Apple today seeded the first beta of an upcoming watchOS 5.2.1 update to developers, just a day after the release of the watchOS 5.2 update, which introduced AirPods 2 support and expanded the ECG feature to Europe.

Once the proper configuration profile has been installed from the Apple Developer Center, the new watchOS beta can be downloaded through the dedicated Apple Watch app on the iPhone by going to General --> Software update.

To install the update, the Apple Watch needs to have at least 50 percent battery, it must be placed on the charger, and it has to be in range of the iPhone.

It's not yet clear what features will be introduced in the watchOS 5.2.1 update, but as 5.x.x software, it's likely to focus on bug fixes and other under-the-hood performance improvements.

Should we find new features in the watchOS 5.2.1 beta, we'll update this post with details.

I would love to see the Airplane integration with the phone done better. On the phone, Airplane mode only turns off the cellphone radio, keeping wireless and Bluetooth on, but it signals the watch to turn all off. Should Bluetooth be left turned on, Airplane mode control would be much more integrated and interesting.

Anyone having charging issues since going to 5.2? I need to check again tonight, but I don't think my watch charged last night after updating, nor did it charge while the update was going on, which I thought was weird. Maaaaybe it wasn't sitting properly on the charge stand I use? But I find that to be somewhat unlikely.

You will not find a ECG App while using any kind of a beta. You‘ll have to downgrade.
If that is true, and I have no reason to doubt you, I will stay off the betas from here on out. I don't believe there is any way to downgrade....

Nope. The ECG app is in the new beta of watchOS. I’m in the U.K. and it was there immediately upon installing the beta from earlier today.

John.

There is a way, but after going that way, there is no way back

hmmm okay. I don’t see the ecg app in Germany as a beta tester. In other forums it is also said that it doesn’t appear on beta versions. Not on 5.2 and 5.2.1

Is the bug with the missing numbers on the Explorer watch face fixed in this beta?

I‘m sorry. My mistake. I didn‘t do anything and now ecg is also available. Maybe you‘ll have to wait a couple of hours...
