Apple today seeded the first public betas of both iOS 10.2.1 and macOS Sierra 10.12.3 to public beta testers, one day after seeding the two new releases to developers and two weeks after releasing iOS 10.2 and macOS Sierra 10.12.2.

Beta testers who have signed up for Apple's beta testing program will receive the new iOS 10.2.1 beta update over-the-air after installing the proper certificate on their iOS device, and macOS Sierra 10.12.3 can be installed using the Software Update mechanism in the Mac App Store.

Those who want to be a part of Apple's beta testing program can sign up to participate through the beta testing website, which gives users access to both iOS and macOS Sierra betas. Betas are not stable and include many bugs, so they should be installed on a secondary device.

No major outward-facing changes were discovered in the developer betas of macOS Sierra 10.12.3 or iOS 10.2.1, suggesting they are both minor updates that focus on bug fixes and under-the-hood changes rather than major new features.

10.2.1 was seeded yesterday. Haven't noticed anything different so far. Running just fine on iPhone 7 and iPad mini 4 wifi + cellular.

Blah blah blah, battery life remaining. blah blah emojis.

Ok now that is out of the way, have any developers discovered what is different? I still have issues with my 15" MBPwTB coming back to life when sleeping in clamshell connected to external monitor.

When was that? There have been .1 updates since the first version of DOS.
Indeed....hmm..
I'm digging through my memory here.... been using Mac OS since version System 6 (next to DOS / Windows back then)
IIRC, once I got System 7, I got updates from a specific Apple update web site. Dial up modem, download the .sea archive and copy to floppy. :D

Is anyone actually noticing an improvement in the final builds since Apple started such a wide and regular public beta testing? I'm certainly not. Makes me think people only download it so they can blog about it or.m show their friends they have it

I have received a few reports back from Apple regarding posted bugs and have seen where others have as well. BUT I have also seen a LOT of bugs reported by various folks and Apple never "gets around to it" . So no everyone isn't just downloading to show their friends :) Testers cannot help it if Apple doesn't actually act on the reports they are being provided.

My experience with IOS 10 on an iPhone 6s has been miserable, and I really wanted to upgrade to IOS 10.

From IOS 10.0 through 10.1.1 I suffered constant lockups of the dialer & contacts app and when Bluetooth synced with my auto, the contact name and phone number are listed, but not the type of phone number (e.g., mobile, work, fax, etc.), so I have to constantly pickup my phone when driving to select the appropriate contact phone number to dial, which is illegal to do when driving in California or Nevada. I never had these problems with IOS 9.

With IOS 10.2, the dialer/contact app lockup problem seems to have been resolved, I'm not sure if the auto Bluetooth sync problem is fixed, but now I'm seeing first hand the "battery drain" problem reported by so many iPhone 6/6+/6s/6s+ users. It's horrible, after your battery reaches about 30%, in a matter of minutes the battery will suddenly drop to single digits with the phone simply in idle.

This is not simply a rant, I generally like IOS 10 and I love my iPhone, but I have never had so many problems with an IOS release since starting with my first iPhone 3s years ago. The worst part, apparently there is no legit way (i.e., sanctioned by Apple) to downgrade back to IOS 9 while Apple resolves issues with IOS 10.

This has been horribly frustrating, plus think about the Apple watch users who suffered "bricking" when their update was released just the other day.

Apple's quality control for software is going downhill. Yes their product line and software line are increasing in complexity and innovation, but still, the problems reported by thousands of users when it comes to IOS seems to be getting worse rather than better.

Same Safari bugs on MacOS 10.12.2 on my 2011 iMac and 2015 MacBook Pro. Dashboard widgets like dictionary remain broken. Was this update meant to do anything than render the Touchbar MBP less dysfunctional? Maybe 10.13 will fix these glitches. Though I'm not holding my breath.

Guys, Apple in iOS 10.2.1 beta 1 fixed the calendar spam issue, and iPhone 6S auto shutdown issue
Except there's nothing really showing that anything in particular was included for calendar spam or battery shutdown issue in this beta, just assumptions that something might have been included--changes related to might very well be on the backend (for the calendar spam), or already included in 10.2 that was released, or not even there since there's nothing at all showing anything related to them actually being there in this beta. Basically nothing actually new in this beta was pointed out.
