Apple today seeded the first public betas of iOS 15.5 and iPadOS 15.5 to its public beta testing group, with the software updates coming one day after Apple provided the betas to developers.

The iOS and iPadOS 15.5 betas can be downloaded over the air after the proper profile from Apple's public beta testing website has been installed on an iPhone or iPad.

iOS 15.5 and iPadOS 15.5 are minor updates compared to prior iOS 15 point releases, and there are a limited number of changes. Apple may be releasing an Apple Classical app at some point in the near future and there are references to it in the beta, but it is not yet available.

There are also minor changes to Apple Pay Cash, with Apple adding Request and Send options, and Apple is making some changes to the iTunes Pass that used to be available in the Wallet app. We have a complete list of changes in our iOS 15.4 guide.

Hope this first beta incorporates the various bug fixes and security fixes that were part of iOS/iPadOS 15.4.1 release.

Reminder this Universal Control requires iPadOS 15.5, and Macs need to be running macOS 12.4. They made performance improvements. :)

Poor iPadOS 15. Took 300 days to get Universal Control, albeit beta, and then literally thrown on an iPad Mini with terrible UI scaling setting back iPadOS even further. I’ve owned all the iPads and after selling my my Mini last week I’ve exhausted any love for these devices I once had.

Maybe when we get a Mini or similar sized tablet with OLED, ProMotion, and properly oriented camera but this will never happen.

Just wanted to ask, I never was able to add an iTunes Pass from my wallet before it got removed. Is this Apple Account balance thing available to me, or is that refresh only available to people who already have an iTunes Pass?

The chief problem is that Apple still hasn't separated iOS from iPadOS enough. (same builds) Its like it treats a iPad like a larger phone still for the most part. Yes the OS recognizes you're using a IPad over a iPhone, but you don't need Safari being able to choose between a mobile website and a desktop website if the screen is 7.9" or larger as a example of old thinking. :D

Does it fix the following iOS issues which have existed since iOS 14:

When trying to view information about available software updates, the text is tiny and microscopic instead of formatted to be readable on the screen.

Why does Apple not want text to be readable?

Whoooo! I got off to a rocky start with this one! The initial download went well, but I kept getting error messages when trying to install. Finally got it to take after rebooting my 12 Pro Max. So far so good!

Apple Pay in iMessage icon has changed to Apple Cash, and now doesn’t work for me to send person to person payments. Perhaps not working because receiver does not have Dev Beta

Poor readability/low contrast stupidity in the UI has been an issue since 2013’s iOS 7.

Books has had various issues not yet fixed. Since the redesign with iOS 12, 14 is the only that’s somewhat worked well. Perhaps not popular enough or there are enough other bugs to deal with first. Unfortunate for those that rely on it.

Is anyone else finding that the Magnifier app doesn't work? I get a black screen. No problem with my lenses; camera works fine.
