Apple today seeded the first public betas of upcoming iOS 18.3, iPadOS 18.3, and macOS Sequoia 15.3 updates, allowing the public to test the software ahead of when it launches early next year. The public betas come a few days after Apple provided the betas to developers. Apple has also seeded public betas of tvOS 18.3 and watchOS 11.3.

Public beta testers can download the updates from the Settings app on each device after opting into the beta through Apple's public beta testing website.

While there are no new Apple Intelligence features for the iPhone or iPad, macOS Sequoia 15.3 brings Genmoji to the Mac for the first time, so Mac users are now able to create custom emoji characters that can be used in place of standard emoji.

In iOS 18.3, iPadOS 18.3, and macOS Sequoia 15.3, code suggests that the Home app is set to gain support for robot vacuums, which means Matter and HomeKit vacuums will be able to integrate with Apple's smart home platform in the future.

We are expecting iOS 18.3, iPadOS 18.3, and macOS Sequoia 15.3 to be released to the public toward the end of January.

So, as expected, no new features for iOS 18.3 right? Let’s hope this means they are using this update to refine the system, fix bugs, and improve the overall efficiency. Along with the usual security patches.

I have the feeling that iOS 18.4 is coming pretty loaded with features, hopefully including AI and iPhone Mirroring on the European Union.

I wouldn't trust advance goals of when Apple implements its AI. 18.4 is really late when you think in the terms of April when the iOS 19.0 DP is only a little bit over two months later. 18.3 looks to be when Apple hopes to sync existing AI implementation missing from three AI capable OS's that were present in only one or two. The example of MacOS 15.3 beta addition of image playground reflects that.

All off us are still waiting to see if Apple spinning new improved SIRI 2 actually gets off the ground. It's literally a believe it when we see it now. I don't personally like redirecting voice or text queries to chatGPT, it's just not very impressive, just a bandaid. I can use other AI web browsers and get better results.:D

What about battery drain for 15 pro max?
And 14 (regular). On my 14 I have excessive battery drain, even though my 14 is not even 6 months old (I know it was produced early this year, but the battery should still be good within a year).

i hope they finally fix the mac dark waking every hour when it's on standby to do who knows what. dark wake means it wakes up but the screen stays off slowly draining the battery. (calendard, alarmd, etc with nothing set and all wake options disabled) this has been a long time problem. you wont notice it until your battery starts aging. even when you override and clear waked events, it puts them right back. when in standby, it should be on standby, meaning ram powered only!

u know how to verify build of the InstallAssistant.pkg - even before downloading it?

using the sequoia one as example, replace the g at the end of the link with m making link to pkm file

download corresponding pkm file

open with textedit and u see this:

... version="24.3.5034.6" ...

how to read build number?

second number 0,1,2,3, ... is A,B,C,D, ...

fourth number 1,2,3,4, ... is a,b,c,d, ...

so the 3 is D and the 6 is f

so the build number is 24D5034f

note public releases and release candidates don't have the fourth number

Did you look to see what is draining your battery?
It's a little bit weird, but everything looks fine according to the battery stats. However, after updating to 18.2, the battery started draining about 1.5 times faster. I tried disabling Apple Intelligence, but it didn't help.

However, at the same time, I see a "Your iPhone has been used more than usual since upgrading iOS, which may affect battery life" banner in the settings. 😵‍💫

For me, on my iPhone 14 it says that my Clicks keyboard is draining overnight. However, it's not connected during the night, so the battery page is displaying the wrong information. In which case I have no clue why the battery is draining so much, as all of the other apps listed are within relatively normal ranges.

When is Siri 2 out? I hope to god it finally understands my Scottish accent.

After all the frenzies from beta testing iOS 18, 18.1, and 18.2, I will be taking a break this time around. 18.3 seems like a stability release, at least on the first beta. My iPhone deserves a little holiday break.

how stable is iOS 18.3 cause I'm not going to be on iOS 17 anymore sigh
The initial beta is operating no worse then 18.2 Public during normal usage.
18.3 beta New Feature
Robot Vacuum support: The Home app gains support for robot vacuums (Roomba et al.). The vacuum has to support HomeKit or Matter, of course
