Apple Seeds Fourth Beta of macOS Sequoia 15.5 [Update: Public Beta Available]

Apple today seeded the fourth beta of an upcoming macOS Sequoia 15.5 update to developers for testing purposes, with the software coming a week after Apple released the third macOS Sequoia 15.5 beta.

Registered developers can opt-in to the macOS Sequoia beta through the Software Update section of the System Settings app. An Apple ID associated with an Apple Developer account is required to get the beta.

macOS Sequoia 15.5 appears to be a minor update so far, and no notable new features were found in the first three betas.

Work on new features for macOS Sequoia is winding down, as Apple will soon transition to macOS 16. The next-generation version of macOS is set to be unveiled at WWDC in June.

Good to see..noticed a bug in 15.4.1 on my Mac Mini M1 that affects the app shortcut in Finder..hopefully the update will fix it

Any news if the firmware gets updated with this release?
Im using a Sonnet eGFx Breakaway Box and it used to work perfectly before Sequoia 15.4 in macOS and bootcamp

Now it does NOT work at all.

The Sonnet is connected to a 2018 Macmini.

You really expect it to work. Apple stuff just barely works with Apple stuff. Apple is the new Microsoft from 1990s where stuff only works on stuff from the same manufacturer.

Apparent new feature : In Time Machine settings, ability to set intervals of : 1 hrs, 1 day, 1 week, manual. no more 3rd party apps to do this unless you really need a different interval.

Correct, I have the options on Sonoma 14,7,5. Probably been there a lot longer than this, I just have never needed/used it.

Have they fixed the camera raw file previews in Finder that they broke with 15.4?? Does anyone have any info on that?

They need to start allowing click throughs.
So annoying that you always have to click to activate and then click again.
No, Option click doesn’t work nearly as well as simply allowing click through.

I wish they would add a USER DESCRIPTION field into Time Machine ... if I manually backup, lets say, before a major upgrade ... I could then easily identify which TM restore point to use

well these usually come out the same time as the sequoia ones

i think it’s just about continued support for ventura and sonoma whist sequoia is updated.

one would expect ventura to still be supported till macOS 16 comes out and sonoma to be supported till macOS 17 comes out.

at least that’s how it’s been for while now, with a system supported till the third one up comes out.
