Apple today seeded the fourth beta of an upcoming tvOS 10.2.1 update to developers for testing purposes, one week after seeding the third 10.2.1 beta and one month after releasing tvOS 10.2, an update that included improve scrolling and iPad support for the Apple TV Remote app.

The tvOS 10.2.1 beta is designed for the fourth-generation Apple TV. It can be downloaded by connecting the Apple TV to a computer with a USB-C cable and installing the beta software from a registered developer account using iTunes.

Because of the installation requirements, tvOS betas are limited to developers. tvOS 10.2.1 will not be available to the public until the final version of the software launches.

Apple does not typically provide detailed beta release notes, so we don't yet know what's included in tvOS 10.2.1. It's likely to focus primarily on bug fixes, security enhancements, and performance improvements, so we may not know what's new until the software sees an official release.

No notable changes were found in the first three tvOS 10.2.1 betas, but should anything new popup in the fourth beta, we'll update this post.

I'd be fairly happy with the experience of using tvOS if the YouTube app gained some of the abilities already present in YouTube's iOS app (make it possible to long-press on a video to like it, dislike it, add it to a playlist, or jump to the channel, and put these same choices in the pulldown menu while a video is playing).

Even more bonus points if you get Amazon to finally submit their Amazon Prime Video app to Apple. Sigh. I'm an Amazon Prime subscriber, they should let me watch the device I choose.

tvOS itself fits my needs pretty well. Sure, there are tweaks that would be made to make it better, but my (admittedly limited) experience with Roku and FireTV sends me running back to the AppleTV. It's so much more of a pleasant experience getting to the things I want to watch.

Apple's "TV" app could use a lot of work, but it's optional, so I can just ignore it unless/until it does things I want.

I agree that it's high time for amazon to let me choose, instead of forcing me ( begrudgingly ) to get another remote, select new source, etc. in order to use their service.

Is anyone having voice over issues? While I don't always use voice over, I occasionally turn it on to see the locations of the screen savers. It stopped working a few weeks ago.
