Apple today seeded the fourth beta of an upcoming tvOS 16.2 update to developers for testing purposes, with the beta coming two weeks after Apple released the third beta.

Developers can download the tvOS 16.2 beta by downloading a profile onto the Apple TV using Xcode.

tvOS updates are often minor in scale, focusing on internal bug fixes and improvements rather than notable outward-facing changes, but there are some noteworthy features in the tvOS 16.2 update. It adds support for the new Home app architecture, which is designed to make Home setups faster and more reliable.

tvOS 16.2 also adds a new Siri voice recognition feature, allowing the Apple TV to recognize each person in the household by voice, swapping over to the appropriate profile. This makes it easier to switch between Apple TV users, getting to the correct music, TV shows, recommendations, and more. Voice recognition supports up to six family members.

Since tvOS 16.2 beta 3 didn't incorporate 128GB memory fix, this should have that.

There are no new release notes for this beta software update

Beta to 'Developers'?. Developers, is that what Apple is calling the general user base now?

Can someone confirm if the sound issues have been resolved in this latest beta? This is my issue below on the 128GB model -

After updating to 16.1.1 I'm experiencing sound issues....a radio-like static noise that happens every 20-40 minutes and only lasts maybe 2-3 seconds, other times the sound just drops. I did not have these issues running tvOS 16.1

I know this because I ended up returning the Apple TV 128GB running 16.1.1 and got the same model but left it on tvOS 16.1...no sound issues at all. Two days later the device auto-updated to 16.1.1...guess what? Sound issues are back. I then enabled Beta updates and downloaded 16.2 Beta 3 and the sound issues are still present.

I haven't experienced that on the 128GB ATV running third beta of tvOS 16.2 as a FYI. I haven't updated mine yet for this beta. What app is involved that you experience this?

Anyone know if the App Store "See All" bug has been fixed, it should be located after the 15th entry of the top free and top paid apps?

This bug may only be affecting the US tvOS App Store.

I have the same issue as the poster above on 16.1.1 on 128GB ATV.
The app that I have noticed this issue, is on Hulu. I have not checked any other apps to see if the issue remains or not.

Looking at Hulu audio issues I come across this tidbit.
Check the audio settings on your TV or streaming device. In most cases, Hulu's library of movies and shows is only encoded for stereo sound. If your hardware is attempting to output audio for some kind of surround sound format, this may cause Hulu to create some crazy-sounding noises and other sound bugs.
I wonder if this is a bug with Hulu app v7.46 released nov 8th, when you are using PCM vs downgrading it to DD5.1/Stereo?

YouTube TV is the app with the most sound issues. But I get the issues with Hulu, Peacock, and my library in the Apple TV app. I just downloaded this beta, put on YouTube TV and now I’m waiting to see if the issue is still there…

Glad I’m not the only one who noticed this. Unbelievable how this made it through software QC at Apple

Yeah, me too. App discovery is already really crappy on tvOS, and having the top 200 free and paid app list missing from the tvOS App Store makes an already crappy app discovery system a lot worse.

I have reported the bug in Apple's feedback, but I think if a developer reported it using the developer tools for reporting, maybe Apple will actually do something about it.

Are you in the US?

One things to always be aware of is the tvOS auto update app process, is slow. Better to check manually your tvOS apps you frequently use to see if they have an update.
