Apple today seeded the fourth beta of an upcoming watchOS 10 update to developers for testing purposes, with the software update coming two weeks after the third beta.

To install the watchOS 10 update, developers will need to open the Apple Watch app, go to the Software Update section under "General" in Settings, and toggle on the watchOS 10 Developer Beta. Note that an Apple ID linked to a developer account is required.

Once beta updates have been activated, watchOS 10 can be downloaded under the same Software Update section. To install software, an Apple Watch needs to have 50 percent battery life and it must be placed on an Apple Watch charger.

watchOS 10 adds a whole new widget-focused interface. You can access a widget stack from any watch face using the Digital Crown, swiping through them to get to relevant information. Control Center can be activated from any app by pressing the side button, and these new quick access controls are meant to let you use watch faces that support less information while still putting everything you need at your fingertips.

There are new Palette and Snoopy watch faces, updates to Cycling and Hiking workouts, and mental health integrations. Users can log their state of mind and mood using the Apple Watch, with the device providing insights into mental health over time.

Gonna upgrade my watch (all scratched up) when the Ultra2/Series9 comes out (haven't decided yet), so I'm not updating to watchOS 10 before that. That way the new watch will seem even newer.

All I ask for is battery improvements. The first 3 betas have been brutal.
I had considered using the public beta but I dont want my battery destroyed.

I am looking forward to the GM release in September and hope the battery life isn't too bad.

Resolved Issues

  • Fixed: Apple Watch Series 6 (40mm) estimates maximum battery capacity more accurately. (109589671)

Found this in the release notes! My 40mm Cellular Series 6 went from 82% to 86%.

Hope this fixes cellular connectivity. I often take calls while jogging, same route daily, and since installing the previous beta call quality and reliability took a hard hit. I’ve never had dropped or missed calls on that route and it wasn’t an issue prior to beta 3.

Mine is an SE 2nd Gen and I honestly don't feel any difference to watchOS 9 regarding battery life. Never had any crash either. Just the weather widget sometimes doesn't load the data, hasn't happened on beta 4 so far though.
I mean battery life has never been *great* in my opinion on any Apple Watch, but no difference at all for me with the beta.

Saw a thread that some people are having issues with rings not filling. I'm waiting to see if that gets fixed first.

Is anyone else having issues with the fitness rings not updating on some of the watch faces?

Haven't noticed any issues with rings on watch faces as such, but in previous betas there was an issue with the whole activity app occasionally failing to update and not show workouts or update award progress unless you force closed it and restarted it... Haven't noticed that in beta 4 yet, but it's not really had much time to manifest yet

All previous betas have provided great battery life on my ultra. The latest is dire already.

I have! I suppose it’s a personal thing isn’t it.
Maybe it is a personal thing but it was a great feature people loved when they introduced it. Imo they should have added an accessibility option for people with issues accidentally switching faces. I don't think I ever did it and if I did it wouldn't bother me much as I could easily swipe back, whereas now I find it much more annoying to switch faces because there isn't even Force Touch like there was on the OG watch until the S6. I often want to switch for style or what's going on and automatic focus modes are not fun to set up and not really appropriate when it comes to style, weather, astro etc.
