Apple today seeded the fourth betas of upcoming iOS 16.5 and iPadOS 16.5 updates to developers for testing purposes, with the software coming a week after the launch of the third betas.

Registered developers can opt in to the betas by opening up the Settings app, going to Software Update, tapping on the "Beta Updates" option and toggling on the iOS 16/iPadOS 16 Developer Beta. Note that an Apple ID associated with a developer account is required to download and install the beta.

iOS 16.5 adds a Sports tab in the Apple News app, making it easier to access sports-focused content. You can choose to follow your favorite teams to get updates on a regular basis. The update also includes a new Siri option for starting a screen recording with a voice command, and multi-viewing options for sports content.

Does the “a” at the end mean they are RCs?

the final lower case letter in the build indicates the number of times it was built that day without being sent back for an issue to be rebuilt.. In this case, once.
In almost every beta that’s been released one that generally has an a at the end the official build normally comes out the next week.

That should hopefully be expected, but not standard. It just implies that a build just before an RC could not encounter issues when built for the day.

Interesting. My profile disappeared and any attempt at reinstalling it fails. WatchOS profile is still fine.
All of my devices except for iPhone are able to install the dev beta. My only option on the phone under software update betas is Public Beta. iPad, Mac, Watch, and TV all still getting dev betas.

Edit: My MBA M1 is excluded from dev. The walls may be closing in! I'm confused why it's not all or nothing though.

Same. All my other devices except the iPhone still have their profiles and can install the dev betas. That includes my M1 Pro 16" Macbook Pro.

I'm wondering that if you've installed the dev beta before in the past with that Apple ID, that it'll still pass?

No, my apple ID is associated with the betas. I logged out and back in, with no improvement. I tried adding the dev beta profile from apple.com, and it didn't stick. I tapped Install, hit agree, but it didn't actually install.

My iPad, Watch, TV and Mac mini are still on dev beta. My phone and MBA no longer are.

I'm not complaining since I haven't paid for the dev program in years. I guess Apple want to change that.

A new wallpaper section for pride. Dedicated section. 🤔

May is usually the time of year they release new watch bands and faces and with this being the fourth or fifth year of them doing them it makes sense to give them their own section.

Typically the watch faces have been released in the 3rd week of May so if previous years are anything to go by I think we will see RC next week with the public release alongside new faces and bands the week after.

The beta broke my "Unlock mac with Apple Watch".
Re-started everything, and it just won't work for me..
(pbly error-40, but I blame the Beta...)

[EDIT - As suspected, user error... Nothing to see here. Move along. All is fine...Please stop laughing at me...]
