Apple today seeded the release candidate versions of upcoming iOS 15.5 and iPadOS 15.5 updates to developers and public beta testers for testing purposes, with the new software coming one week following the release of the fourth betas.

Developers can download iOS 15.5 and iPadOS 15.5 through the Apple Developer Center or over the air after the proper profile has been installed on an iPhone or iPad. Public beta testers can get the profile from Apple's beta testing website.

iOS 15.5 and iPadOS 15.5 are minor updates compared to prior iOS 15 point releases, and there are a limited number of changes. Apple may be releasing an Apple Classical app at some point in the near future and there are references to it in the beta, but it is not yet available. Apple is using the iOS 15.5 update to lay the groundwork for functionality that will let developers of "reader" apps add a link to an external website for the purpose of signing up for and managing accounts outside of the App Store.

There are also minor changes to Apple Pay Cash, with Apple adding Request and Send options, and Apple is making some changes to the iTunes Pass that used to be available in the Wallet app. Apple's official release notes for the update are below:
iOS 15.5 includes the following improvements and bug fixes:
- Wallet now enables Apple Cash customers to send and request money from their Apple Cash card
- Apple Podcasts includes a new setting to limit episodes stored on your iPhone and automatically delete older ones
- Fixes an issue where home automations, triggered by people arriving or leaving, may fail
Some features may not be available for all regions or on all Apple devices. For information on the security content of Apple software updates, please visit this website:

iOS 15.5 will likely see a public launch next week.

I hope there's a lot of fixes and speed improvements.

At this point, I've encountered bugs with Safari, iCloud Drive, iCloud Messages, Siri, Music, AirDrop, and as always iCloud Keychain... all in one week. And my iPhone 12 feels slow somehow. This thing should never slow down in its life time, even with iOS 20 in 2027.

It asks me to download install. I say yes. It asks me if I want to temporarily remove apps. I say yes. It asks me if I want to use mobile data. I say no. Then it asks me again if I want to download and install again and I go through th3 whole process again and again and again.

Is there a way to fix this?

I noticed the RC fixed the odd weather lookup for ZIP issue with Siri. It was not mentioning the city, instead some local place in the city by mistake with the previous betas. Now Siri is acting same as MacOS again.

are you connected to wifi? You're saying no not to use mobile data so maybe that's why it isn't downloading.

Hoping for some battery improvement

Has someone else’s Apple Music just stopped working after this update? Streaming and downloading music just doesn’t work at all (previously downloaded music works fine). I haven’t tried listening to music today before updating, so I’m not sure if it’s related to iOS 15.5 or if there’s a problem in general or something…

What device? RC installed on iPadOS Mini 6 has Apple Music working.

Same problem on both an iPhone 13 Pro Max and 2020 iPad Pro 12.9 :/ I hope it’s just some kind of temporary server outage in my country (Luxembourg), I tried turning off ‘Sync Library’ and rebooting my iPhone, and now I can’t even turn it back on again…
