Apple Seeds Second Beta of iOS 18.5 to Developers

Apple today seeded the second betas of upcoming iOS 18.5 and iPadOS 18.5 updates to developers for testing purposes, with the software coming two weeks after Apple released the first betas.

iOS 18.5 and iPadOS 18.5 can be downloaded from the Settings app on a compatible device by going to General > Software Update.

So far, iOS 18.5 and iPadOS 18.5 are relatively minor updates, introducing just a few new design changes. There are more options for reverting the Mail app back to the prior design, including removing contact photos, and AppleCare info is easier to find.

The update also likely has behind the scenes bug fixes and performance improvements.

Apple is transitioning to iOS 19 and iPadOS 19, which are set to be previewed in June at the Worldwide Developers Conference.

Hope they continue to work on the AI summaries. In 18.4 iOS Mail started telling me I have an automatic payment for $7432 scheduled next week. Except the 7432 is actually the last 4 digits of the credit card.

Does email pull work for you? My email (doesn't matter if personal IMAP or iCloud) only refreshes if I open the app... (on settings it's on automatic)

I have my email set up for manual pull, so I can't check that, although I do notice that when I clear emails on one device, the badge doesn't change on any others. I'm more complaining about apps like Facebook, Reddit, LinkedIn, MyHyundai, etc., where I'll clear notifications on one device but the badge remains on all the others — I have to open the app on each device and get it to update in order to clear notifications on other devices.
