Apple today seeded the second beta of an upcoming tvOS 13.3 update to developers, one week after seeding the first beta and two weeks after releasing the tvOS 13.2 update.

Designed for the fourth and fifth-generation Apple TV models, the new tvOS 13.3 developer beta can be downloaded onto the ?Apple TV? via a profile that's installed using Xcode.

tvOS updates (aside from major releases) have historically been minor in scale, focusing on under-the-hood bug fixes and improvements rather than major outward-facing changes. Apple provides little to no information on what's included in tvOS beta updates, so we may not discover any major changes after installing the software.

The update does, however, include a useful new setting that's designed to let you change the main banner interface in the TV+ app from What to Watch to Up Next, which shows content from shows that you're already watching instead of show suggestions.

The option can be accessed by going to the Settings app, choosing Apps, and selecting the TV app. From there, select Home Screen and choose "Up Next" in the "Top Shelf" section.

While we don't often know full details about what's new in tvOS during the beta testing process, we let MacRumors readers know when new updates are available so those who are developers can download it upon release.

Fix the bugs and get rid of the tacky ads in Apple TV app. It’s embarrassing.

I seem to recall reading on /r/AppleTV that 13.3 beta lets you switch the top display for the Apple TV app back to up-next stuff, instead of videos trying to entice you into other shows/movies/services.

This is correct. Go to settings, and it is under the App/TV Settings.

Okay, does THIS fix the Airplay bug? Mine still sleeps while listening to music/podcasts through airplay. 😒

As soon as it comes out of beta, I will.

I've also noticed that it'll sleep if I leave something like the Soma.FM tvOS app running, actively playing music right there on the Apple TV, while on the other hand, the other day I paused a youtube video and was unexpectedly out of the room for an hour, and came back to find it sitting on the same paused screen - no screensaver, no sleeping. That was pretty disappointing - tvOS 12 had that sorted.

Anyone have issues with CEC not working? My TV cannot turn on/off my Apple TV anymore since TVOS 13 I believe. I can still use my Samsung remote to control volume but the off/on stopped working.

I have the problem of my AirPods connect to my Apple TV but more than half the time, the ATV remote will not adjust the volume. I have to take the AirPods out, put them in the case, wait for them to disconnect from the ATV, then put them in again, then it works.

I had problems with starting the ATV/TV with my ATV remote, but figured out that they changed it to needing to push the Home button, not just the trackpad. I have not seen anything anywhere written about this change.

My ATVs are the only things I have updated to the latest, because I don’t know how to downgrade them. Everything else remains at iOS 12 & Mavericks.

Still looking for support for dual BT audio streaming (audio to two people’s headphones) like iOS now can.

You would think with wanting everyone to own AirPods, they would’ve done this by now.

Maybe Tim wants everyone to have 2 ATVs connected to their TV, running in tandem.

How do I turn off Beta on tvOS? There used to be an extra menu to enable/disable beta. But I no longer see it.

any reference to a new apple tv model? waiting on that...

no kidding! With Disney+ here (and I’m using free streaming services more and more) I could really use a dedicated streaming device, but I’m not buying a $180 device that’s past due on replacement and has limited OS support left. Years, hopefully, but still.

I broke down and replaced my ATV4 with an ATV4K this past weekend, after waiting a long time for an "ATV5" to appear. I figure if they do drop one in the next couple weeks, then I'll take this one back, and if it doesn't appear in the next couple weeks, then it won't surface until spring at the earliest (at which point I'd probably buy one and hand the ATV4K off to a relative).
