Apple today seeded the second beta of the upcoming tvOS 15 update to developers for testing purposes, with the new beta coming a little over two weeks after Apple released the first beta.

Developers can download the new tvOS 15 beta by downloading a profile onto the ‌Apple TV‌ using Xcode.

Apple shared little about tvOS 15 during its keynote event, but there are some new features that are coming to the operating system. SharePlay, a FaceTime feature that lets multiple users watch TV shows or movies together, will integrate with tvOS, and there's a new "For All of You" recommendation engine that suggests shows everyone might enjoy.

A Shared With You section also displays movies and shows that were shared with you through the Messages app so you remember to check them out. When paired with AirPods Pro or AirPods Max, the Apple TV supports Spatial audio for a theater-like surround sound experience, and there's a new feature for automatically connecting your AirPods through Smart AirPods routing.

Two HomePod mini speakers can be paired with the Apple TV 4K for stereo sound, and if you have HomeKit cameras, you can view multiple cameras at the same time on the Apple TV.

tvOS 15 is limited to developers at the current time, but Apple will provide a public beta of the software to public beta testers starting in July.

Yeah but it’s an important os also as many of us use it. But as you can’t do much with it beside home etc then people will not go crazy
Oh, It’s one of my absolute favorite things — from entertainment to my HomeKit stuff — but this just not enough was pushed forward. And, as we all know, that means another year, till next June, to see any real additions or changes.

With a MASSIVE Apple+ advert right in the middle of the screen too.

Same way they messed up the Podcast App prmototed content. Why are they destroying their app like this.

Did Apple add IR learning for the Power button on the new Siri remote for customers with non HDMI-CEC equipment?
This! My TV has HDMI-CEC, but most of the time, I use Siri to turn the Apple TV on (my receiver then turns on thru CEC) and play Apple Music. I have CEC disabled on my TV, because I don't want it on when I'm just listening to music. I would like to use the power button on the ATV remote to turn my TV on and off. Then, I could put my TV's remote away, since that's all I use it for.

I need to go into Settings and down there 3 levels EVERY TIME I want to connect my JBL Flip 5... bluetooth management of non-Apple speakers is frikkin annoying.... I hope a law suite with TILE or whomever will fix this.

I wish apple let us choose how much memory each app keeps. My infuse player resets on my 32gig appletv and has to reload all my artwork metadata from my hard drives. 1500+ movies doesn’t seem like the appletv likes keeping its cache file in memory for a while. But why?

“Two HomePod mini speakers can be paired with the Apple TV 4K for stereo sound, and if you have HomeKit cameras, you can view multiple cameras at the same time on the Apple TV”

Here’s hoping still I can have my two OG Homepods with Dolby atmos AND two Homepod Minis in stereo 🙂

More than one security camera at once is a good update.

Really do enjoy having homekit scenes to put the tv on, change the room and ambient lighting to watch a movie, and put the heating on all from the Siri remote!

With HDMI 2.1 and the A12 on the latest gen ATV, 4K at 120hz isn’t limited by cabling or by lack of cpu. So It’s something I kinda hoped Apple may include in TVOS15. Not yet entirely practical but nonetheless it would have been a nice differentiator feature even if quite limited .

The bug with missing audio on Plex is still present ☹️

Hopefully Plex get it sorted soon (they are so slow with fixes nowadays)

Also, my default HomePod OGs seem to have trouble being the default. it takes a few times to get them to work. It’s weird.

Apple TV 4K (2021) running public beta 15.0 19J5288e
2 Homepod minis running 14.6, setup as a stereo pair, same WLAN, same Home room

We can't get them to show up in the list for the default audio output option;
only our stereo pair of OG Homepods appears there...

Anyone having success with the default option and Homepod minis? Thank you.
