Apple today seeded the second beta of an upcoming watchOS 10.2 update to developers for testing purposes, with the beta coming two weeks after Apple seeded the first watchOS 10.2 beta.

To install the ‌watchOS 10.2‌ update, developers will need to open the Apple Watch app, go to the Software Update section under "General" in Settings, and toggle on the ‌watchOS 10‌ Developer Beta. An Apple ID linked to a developer account is required.

Once beta updates have been activated, ‌watchOS 10‌ can be downloaded under the same Software Update section. To install software, an Apple Watch needs to have 50 percent battery life and it must be placed on an Apple Watch charger.

watchOS 10.2 adds support for iMessage Contact Key Verification, a feature designed for those who face "extraordinary digital threats," such as journalists, human rights activists, and government officials.

Users can ensure that there is no "man in the middle" snooping on iMessage conversations, and there is a Contact Verification Code so that iMessage users can verify that they're speaking to the correct individual during in-person meetings or on FaceTime calls.

I really hope this includes the battery fix released with 10.1.1. Fingers crossed… currently installing. I’m reporting in 24 hours

place hand over watch to turn screen off, rotate crown to change brightness :)
I hope you are joking... this does not work with watchOS 10. We used to be able to change brightness, but not with the Ultra watches. You can find over 1,000 apple discussion board replies on this very (unresolved) issue.

no U2 dimness fix. Still as hard to read in the dark as day one. It's basically a $900 daytime only watch now. Again, only the U2 affected. At this point it's just mean. It's just a simple software adjustment on Apple's part.

I’m getting more txt alerts on my watch now. If my phone had AOD on. I would miss a lot of alerts. Now it seems to be working fine again.

Ultra 1. Looks like this update broke FindMy. Watch connected to the phone, but find my cannot see it.

start reaching out to any class action lawyers for a false advertising suit one will surely pick it up, they only fix things when they are sued like the battery gate. still no brightness fix and it seems to actually have got worse on this build

some pretty bold claims were made about the screen brightness in the advertising material, this is false advertising.

All they gotta do is give us the option to turn the auto thing off, or either knock the brightness in the dark up a few Nits. Problem solved. I don't understand why they changed it anyway. Same watch more or less as ver 1 which didn't have any of these problems. Dimness to 1 Nit is NOT a feature! It's not a watch for spys. It's just stupid.

yes very simple fix, a class action will push them to implement this properly.

Watch OS right now is a mess. I'm seriously thinking of going back to Garmin. Aside from the nonsense with the brightness adjustment (which by the way negatively affects the U1 in that you can no longer decide when it goes red and when the face remains in its standard format), you can no longer even go back to the last place you were at on the list or grid views of apps; it defaults back to the top. This is taking what was an improvement on Garmin's UI and turning it into a disadvantage, and it's utter baloney from Apple.
