Apple today seeded the second beta of an upcoming watchOS 8.1 beta to developers for testing purposes, with the update coming one week after the release of the first beta and a week after the release of the watchOS 8 update.

To install ‌‌‌watchOS 8.1‌‌‌, developers will need to download the configuration profile from the Apple Developer Center. Once installed, ‌‌‌watchOS 8‌‌‌ can be downloaded through the dedicated Apple Watch app on the iPhone by going to General > Software update.

To update to new software, an Apple Watch needs to have 50 percent battery life, it must be placed on the charger, and it needs to be in range of the ‌‌‌iPhone‌‌‌.

We don't yet know what's new in watchOS 8 and there were no new features found in the first beta, but we'll update this article should anything new pop up in the second beta.

Man the OS8 bricked my AW6. I had to downgrade it. Hopefully, the coming update version will take care of it.

I would like this to fix the Watch bugs that were introduced since the last patches on the phone and watch. Some to mention are:

When I try to Dismiss a Text message by hitting the Dismiss button it does not dismiss the text but either responds with a random canned response or the response under the Dismiss mutton.

Fix the laggy screen response when displaying the time or exercise progress. It appears to only now update when I lift my wrist.

Sometimes when I try to mark my workout complete I have to use the screen to move down to the Done button and not able to use the crown.

To me, the Apple Watch built in apps seems relatively... stagnant. I rarely use the built in programs like Apple Pay, Messages, Timers, Siri and Activity. Very little has changed over the years.

Still a head scratcher if I go out for a run, and complete say both my calorie and activity minute rings, You only get a calorie ring close animation, rather than one showing both.

This. It's been driving me crazy. If I glance down at my watch it's telling me the wrong time. Lift my wrist and it jumps like five minutes or however long it's been since I raised my wrist. Doesn't seem like a lot but when you end up being late for a meeting because of it then it's annoying. First and foremost a watch should tell you the correct time! I know it's a bug that will get fixed but I'm really looking forward to this one being squashed. Only happens with Always On displays, obviously.

This also happens to me when I use the timer. I've seen it count down and get to 25 seconds, hang and never notify me until I lift my wrist. Another bug I've found was when you immediately reboot your watch after the timer is done. When the watch is done booting up, the timer goes off again.

Can’t update AW6 because I’m not updating to iOS 15 until the spyware issue is finally removed and verified by a third party. Wish I’d have known about this prior to purchasing the AW6. $80 for Amazon fitness tracker looks great.

Timers has changed significantly this year. Now you can set multiple ones.

There is no “spyware” in iOS 15 at the moment.

Says who, Apple? Apple can not be trusted must be verified by a trusted third party.
Apple is the MOST scrutinized company in the world. If there is there will be outcries by now. And they will get sued. Apple can't just get away with doing CSAM secretly.
