Apple today seeded the second betas of iOS 17.1 and iPadOS 17.1 to developers for testing purposes, with the beta coming one week after Apple released the first betas of iOS 17.1 and iPadOS 17.1.

Registered developers are able to opt into the betas by opening up the Settings app, going to the Software Update section, tapping on the "Beta Updates" option, and toggling on the ‌iOS 17 or iPadOS 17‌ Developer Beta. An Apple ID associated with a developer account is required to download and install the beta.

iOS 17.1 adds the option to favorite songs, albums, playlists, artists, and more, with favorited content added to the Library and used for suggestions. Favoriting can be done from the Lock Screen using the Now Playing widget, plus when starting a playlist, you'll now see Song Suggestions.

AirDrop transfers can be finished over the internet so close proximity does not need to be maintained, and an Apple Watch running watchOS 10.1 can now use NameDrop with an iPhone running iOS 17.1.

Other new features include a flashlight indicator in the Dynamic Island for non iPhone 15 Pro models, and a Wallet feature that lets those in the UK connect their banks to see balances and transactions.

I hope they will fix the StandBy bug. This is what I reported to https://feedbackassistant.apple.com/

As a deaf web developer, I rely on closed captioning when I watch a movie on my iPhone while it's charging. On StandBy mode, however, when I pause the movie and return to it later, I can't resume it because there's no indication on the StandBy screen to launch the app. It has "play" button but it does not launch the app. I have to unplug the charger to turn off StandBy, and go back to the home screen to get back to Netflix. This is a UI bug that needs fixing. I hope I make sense. Thank you.

Actually, I reported some issues to https://feedbackassistant.apple.com/ such as:
  • Crop button is hard to see when zooming in on the Photos app
  • Larger Accessibility Sizes for the Timer app
  • SMS: Delete, Report Junk and Block (suggestion)
  • The fitness app's green buttons with white text (hard to read due to poor contrast)
  • On the Messages app, make it an option to swap the buttons (+ and voice icon inside the keyboard input field)
  • On the Phone app, make it an option to move the dial button left, right or center.
  • App Switcher Close All button at the bottom (suggestion)
EDIT: I added images for clarification.

Really hoping this update solves the overheating 15 pro max issue. Not going on any betas and patiently waiting for the final release

Anybody lose their AirTags in find my items? I lost all 8 plus two shared w me on 17.0 just before 17.1 PB1 (which didn’t fix problem).

Similar happened on my M2 MBA but just a day or two later.

So far my AW6 still shows them.

All devices are updated as the PBs come out.

(Yes, I’ve reported through beta feedback too and updated.)

Am I the only one with this problem?

Felt mildly warm after updating, nothing different than previous updates on any recent iPhone. 15 Pro Max here.
