Apple today seeded a second release candidate version of macOS Sequoia 15.7, one week after seeding the first release candidate. If no further bugs are found, macOS Sequoia 15.7 could be released to the public soon.

Developers can opt-in to the ‌macOS Sequoia‌ beta through the Software Update section of the System Settings app.

According to Apple's release notes, the update includes security fixes.
This update provides important security fixes and is recommended for all users.
Given the rapid escalation to release candidate status, macOS Sequoia 15.7 likely addresses a critical security bug.

Uggh Mac Rumors.
15.7 will be released on the same day as 26.0, just like the last several years.
Simply because they have begun testing it does not mean it’s going to be released imminently.
Same goes for iOS 18.7 and macOS Sonoma 14.8 too.

Wow..interesting..I had no idea there's a 15.7 and the fact it will be released simultaneously with Tahoe is crazy!

Update from RC1 to RC2 is bigger than a full installer to download.

Yep, it has been this way for quite a while now.
15.7 will be released on the same day as iOS 26, and will be updated throughout the year. For example 15.7.1 will likely launch alongside 26.1, 15.7.2 alongside 26.2, etc.
Then a year from now there will be an update to 15.8 that releases on the same day as 27.0.
Same is happening this year with Sonoma, 14.8 RC2 was also released today and will also release in September.
People denying this don’t realize that…
A: if there were a major security flaw that needed to be patched today Apple would do it with 15.6.1
B: Apple has been releasing these macOS RC build through the beta channel for about a year now.
C: Apple very much likes sticking to patterns.
X.0 in September
X.1 in October
X.2 in December
X.3 in late January
X.4 in late March/early April
X.5 in the third week of May
X.6 during the last two weeks of July
X.7 in September along with the new updates
X.8 a year later

*Before* I installed the update, I saw my mini was off.

I hadn't turned it off. It had crashed so hard (when idle) that it didn't even reboot.

Yes, there were precursors in the log file, but I have never ever seen a Mac crash to an off power state.

Something was amiss with the last beta, hopefully this addresses whatever happened here.

How stable is the Safari 26 beta?

I didn't notice any difference to the version before in Beta 1. Beta 2 seems stable too but there is a small bug in the Extensions section, it was also in Beta 1 but not from the beginning. I think it started when I updated to 15.7 RC1 or later. Very strange.

The activation box is invisible sometimes it also is jumping always to the top where "Add Extensions" is now. The first external change I noticed.

I also have the Technology Preview installed, it doesn't have that bug. Strangely it doesn't have the standard version number anymore since the first Tahoe Beta, must be still 18.x. but with a newer build number than 26 Beta 2.

I have my systems configurations to betas turned off, and then flick it on, if the beta is relevant. So I activated it, installed macOS Sequoia RC, and then turned it off, but subsquently, kept getting prompted to install Safari 26 beta, and despite turning betas on and off, and leaving the beta program, and restarting, logging out etc, still kept getting the prompt to install it. Gave in, and installed it, and the one overriding annoyance, is that if you select compact (I was already using it) for the browser view, you cannot close a tab with a click, you have to ⌘ W it, and you cannot select text, or write text into the search window. Going back to 'separate', and it all works.

Sonoma seems to be first post-Catalina release that has X.8 released as end-of-life for Big Sur, Monterey and Ventura was at X.7 - thus this is hardly a part of a long-time pattern.

You are right, the address and search bar is not working. :( I never used compact view before. I only looked if it's still there because Tahoe doesn't have it anymore, maybe that is causing the bug. But if you create a new tab it seems to work.

But when I right click on a tab in compact view, there is a close tab option. Do you mean that? Selecting text is also working for me. Just noticed there is an x in the address bar, the whole thing is not responding when a website has been opened, also reload and the symbol next to it.

You could use the Technology Preview instead. It doesn't show the version number anymore since the Tahoe betas. Normally it's just a newer build of what is installed (18.6, I don't think there was an 18.7 version only for the RCs). It should sync Bookmarks, Profiles and Extensions but not the other settings it also has its own history and website data like cookies.
There is no problem with compact view and no change and bug in the extensions settings. Just install it and set it as standard browser if you don't want to wait for the fix, the final version will include 26 anyway. And there might be another beta before. Maybe even in the next days.

There are only separate Safari installers for Ventura and Sonoma for version 18.6 and 17.6 for Monterey. Seems those don't get 26 with the final update together with the Tahoe release.

It looks like there is a 13.8 RC too and it will also get Safari 18.6 like Sonoma or already has it. The build number for the latest installer I found is 22.H.722.

Strange there is a Safari 26 for Sonoma but no download link without logging in, there was several times a 18.6 installer, so I thought it's still in beta for Sonoma and 18.x will be the last version.
