Apple today seeded second release candidate versions of upcoming iOS 15.6 and iPadOS 15.6 updates to developers and public beta testers for testing purposes, with the new software coming three days release of the first RCs. The release candidate updates represent the final versions of iOS 15.6 and iPadOS 15.6 that are expected to be released to the public next week.

Developers can download iOS 15.6 and iPadOS 15.6 through the Apple Developer Center or over the air after the proper profile has been installed on an iPhone or iPad. Public beta testers can download the profile from Apple's beta testing website.

According to Apple's release notes for the update, it adds new options for live sports games and addresses issues with device storage Settings, Safari, and more.
iOS 15.6 includes enhancements, bug fixes and security updates.
  • TV app adds the option to restart a live sports game already in-progress and pause, rewind, or fast-forward
  • Fixes an issue where Settings may continue to display that device storage is full even if it is available
  • Fixes an issue that may cause braille devices to slow down or stop responding when navigating text in Mail
  • Fixes an issue in Safari where a tab may revert back to a previous page
iOS 15.6 and iPadOS 15.6 could be some of the last updates to iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 as Apple is now working on iOS 16, which is set to be released this fall.

How do you install this via OTA? It only gives me the iOS 16 beta option. Edit: never mind. Had the wrong profile installed.

Okay I gotta say that most of the issues I’ve been having with iOS 15 were solved by a DFU Restore new :p

Or it could be the cleanup of updates this last year

I have 15.6 RC1 installed but had erased the public beta profile thinking this is it until release. When I try download the iOS beta profile from the Apple website it only gives me the option to download iOS 16 beta, which I would like to hold off on for now. I can’t find anywhere to download an iOS 15.6 beta profile. Apple couldn’t help. If I have no more beta profiles installed, will the final release show up for me to download when Apple releases it next week? I don’t know why I recall in the past, if I installled the final release candidate and deleted the beta profile, I never got another option to download the final release. Presumably build # is key here so final release should have a different build number than 15.6 RC1.

Does the new iPadOS play webms like iOS or no?

Correct. As the build # of the RC2 is higher, you will be able to install it without a beta profile once it is released to all.

Do you know how to get the 15.x profile again? I though about trying out 16 and installed the new profile, then changed my mind but can’t find the other profile on beta.apple.com.
