Apple today seeded the seventh beta of the upcoming tvOS 18 refresh to developers for testing purposes, with the beta coming a week after the sixth beta came out.

Registered developers are able to download the tvOS 18 update by opting in to the beta through the Settings app on the Apple TV. A registered developer account is required.

tvOS 18 adds an InSight feature to the TV app, and it is able to provide real-time information about actors, music, and more in Apple TV+ shows and music. Enhanced Dialogue has been refined with machine learning and computational audio so it is better able to boost vocal clarity over background noise and music, plus it is now available on built-in TV speakers, AirPods, and other Bluetooth devices.

Subtitles will now show up automatically when relevant, such as when the TV's volume is muted, a show or movie is rewound, or when the language of a show doesn't match the device language.

Other new features include 21:9 aspect ratio support for projectors, new screen savers and improved controls for swapping screen savers, and support for Live Captions during FaceTime calls through an iPhone or iPad.

Still amazed how far behind Google we are.

The Google TV Streamer provides access to over 700,000 movies and shows through popular streaming apps like YouTube TV, Netflix, Disney+, and ‌Apple TV‌, as well as live TV with over 800 free channels. One of the standout features is the AI-powered content recommendation system, which uses Google's Gemini technology to curate personalized watchlists and provide detailed summaries, reviews, and season-by-season breakdowns of content.

Good lord, why? What would a locally installed web browser do better than screen sharing your phone or Mac browser? I can hardly stand typing in email/password prompts, much less an url without using my phone "keyboard".

What if we could use our Apple Magic Keyboard with TouchID and Apple Magic Mouse (or any bluetooth keyboard and mouse) with what would probably be a very basic version of Safari on AppleTV 4K? I think that would be pretty awesome. More powerful than the iOS/iPadOS Safari, but less powerful than the Mac version.

What would be wrong with that?!

I have been super impressed with the Enhanced Dialogue feature. Was trying to watch a very recent drama, and could not understand what the characters were saying. Went back to watch after this feature dropped and the difference was remarkable. Sounded totally clear and natural. I have not tried it on a Christopher Nolan movie yet but that would be the ultimate test!

prolly when it actually comes out to the public they will add snoopy. . At least we have multi channel airplay. Atmos still enabled after I added my subwoofer with the AirPort Express

Websites don't look good on those larger screens, it would be a very bad experience, if you own a modern SmartTV it probably has a built in web browser that you can try and see that despite having mouse/keyboard support, the experience is pretty bad and unreliable.

It's exactly as if Apple made Safari available on Apple Watch, it'd be a non-sense, other TV manufacturers ship broswers because they don't really care about the user experience.
