Apple today released the sixth beta of an upcoming visionOS 2 update to developers, with the beta coming a week after the fifth beta.

visionOS-2-Feature-1.jpg

Registered developers are able to opt into the betas by opening up the Settings app on their device, going to the Software Update Section, tapping on the "Beta Updates" option, and toggling on the Developer Beta. Note that an Apple ID associated with a developer account is required to download and install the beta.

visionOS 2 is able to take the depth information from 2D photos and turn them into 3D photos using advanced machine learning. Apple says that the feature is meant to add depth to photos to make memories more immersive.

There are new hand gestures for activating the Home View and Control Center, and the Home View is also now customizable with apps able to be rearranged. Travel Mode now includes support for trains, and Guest User profiles are now saved for 30 days so guests don't have to do the setup process every time they try out the headset.

Later in the year, Mac Virtual Display will support higher resolution and larger sized virtual displays, which Apple says will be equivalent to two 4K monitors side by side. With an AirPlay update, the Vision Pro can serve as an AirPlay receiver, so content from the iPhone, iPad, or Mac can be shared to the headset.

The Mindfulness app can track and respond to breathing patterns using the camera for an improved meditation experience, and the Vision Pro supports Bluetooth mice with visionOS 2.

Yes, many (several) of us still care about the Vision Pro and are looking forward to installing this beta!
Good you said that, before the toxic comments start to come.
I’m on the road now, as soon as I have a chance I will install it.
If you do it first, please let us know your thoughts on it. The release notes were not updated, still for Beta 5.

Just downloaded it - running flawlessly, get it.
Sure, we AVP uses need to stick together!

Any noticeable changes? I keep hoping to be surprised by new Apple native apps, but I think I will be waiting a while.

It is still a beta - I am happy that it is running like a charm. Difficult to say, what "big" changes were made. That new jitter, that was introduced in Beta 4, in "pass trough" mode is still visible. It depends on the available light. If it is bright "outside" it is barely noticable - if the light is fading there is this blur/jitter. But ok - it is not present in virtual environments.

Regarding the toxic comments: I feel kind of proud, just to look down on them comments - saying to myself: I am in the game and it is gorgeous. 😎. Will it fail? No idea - i don't think. The iPhone did not fail as well despite Steve Balmers very toxic comment at launch.
Remember: We are on an incredible high level regarding tech stuff in general. Who dares to introduce a new and revolutionary product. Meta and others do have something, that does not convice me at all. The AVP does it in many ways.

Kudos and thanks to all of the beta folks! As stable as it sounds, I’m sitting on the sidelines. I tested a lot of software during my career. That seems like enough.

Also had since launch. Device is amazing even in current (beta) state.

Best tip I have is to pull down 2160 HDR films in HEVC, then stream to moon player using moonlink.

I’m a new Vision Pro user who installed the beta version when I received my device a couple of weeks ago and just updated to today’s build.

I was hoping Apple would introduce the iPhone mirroring feature, similar to the one available in the MacOS beta. I find using AirPlay without the ability to control the iPhone inconvenient.

Does anyone know if Apple AI will be available for the Vision Pro, or is the device’s hardware not powerful enough to support it?

There's been no announcement from Apple regarding AI features for the Vision Pro. The main hardware limitation on Apple Intelligence is device RAM, so devices with less than 8 GB of RAM aren't supported but the AVP is spec'd at 16 GB RAM so this should not be a limitation if they choose to implement it.

Got it installed, and it seems to be running smoothly. No issues yet. It’s a little better responsive.
I’ll keep testing it and will get back.
Same here - running great! It may just be me, but some of the windows look just a *shade* darker...and menu responsiveness feels a bit snappier. The Passthrough jitters that someone else mentioned are still there, however.

Looks like all the negative folks have gotten it out of their systems 😂 - nice to be in a group with other AVP owners without all of the negativity! I work from home and have used it for 6-8 hrs a day - I am 57, and IMHO, this is the most amazing piece of prosumer / consumer tech of my lifetime (to this point anyway!).

Don’t be afraid, I use my AVP in a production environment, providing network support, also connecting to Ivanti VPN and MS Remote Desktop. No issues at all.
Way better than 1.3

It'll be last on their priority list, but really it may benefit the most.

Think they fixed the bug where the control centre icon appeared when you look up - which became redundant with gestures.

Might be wrong but noticed Persona has an option for default background (when not in FaceTime) think that might be new.

Got stuck in a loop when resetting persona which seemed to lock out retina ID - that needed a reboot.

Think hand tracking is slightly improved as arcade solitaire seems to be slightly more responsive in the dark.

Mac remote connection still has smaller screen.

Disappointing absence is folders within Home screen icons (given it’s there for compatible apps it really shouldn’t be that far away) but guess they have to prioritise developments.

Every time there’s progress and refinement, this beta must be approaching final soon!

Thank you for the feedback. Something that may improve tracking with non-native apps is to use the Medium Display Size (don’t remember the proper name, I’m not wearing my AVP at this time). If you use Small, tracking may not be as good.
Aslo, enable the option to Zoom Windows using two-hand gesture. This way you can increase the size of your Mac Display.
I’m also missing the option to organize apps inside folders. Hopefully soon…

In about two weeks we should get Beta 7 or Release Candidate, depending on when is Apple planning to release it. If they have time, they will push a few extra Betas, and/or hopefully VisionOS 2.1 Beta 1 (to be at par with iOS 18.1)

Release notes for Beta 6 are finally available at the Dev Site. Lots of improvements, still reading through it

Wow, so far not one asinine jab at the device. No one complaining about the price etc.

It’s refreshing 😄

I use the VP every day and loving the stability of the latest beta. Like others, im looking forward to better app management; let me create my own folders!

I am so, so, so impatient and I’m impatiently waiting for the updated Mac Virtual Display. I love what’s there now, but looking forward to ultra wide virtual display.

These betas are smooth, love the new hand gestures for home and control center. Would love to see what else they can do with that in future OS versions.
