Apple today seeded the third beta of an upcoming macOS Sequoia 15.5 update to developers for testing purposes, with the software coming a week after Apple released the second macOS Sequoia 15.5 beta.

Registered developers can opt-in to the macOS Sequoia beta through the Software Update section of the System Settings app. An Apple ID associated with an Apple Developer account is required to get the beta.

macOS Sequoia 15.5 appears to be a minor update so far, and no notable new features were found in the first beta.

Work on new features for macOS Sequoia is winding down, as Apple will soon transition to macOS 16. The next-generation version of macOS is set to be unveiled at WWDC in June.

I hope it actually fixes some of the crippling bugs, like the unacceptable random black screens on my family's iMac, which require a hard reboot to temporarily remedy. Never saw that in any version prior to 15.4.0. And yet, for all of the work apparently not being spent on features for this final meaningful point release, they'll probably just fix a couple of bugs in features that don't even really matter.

The new macOS 15.5 Beta 3 prevents Mullvad VPN from contacting the servers. The same could also happen to users of other VPN services.

If this is the case, please join the following bug report to Apple: FB17311815

Mullvad reports the following message (in your local language):
It is not possible to contact the Mullvad system service, your connection may be insecure.
Please fix the problem or send a problem report by clicking on “Learn more”.

I escalated the bug to Mullvad accordingly.

When will they fix the bug for when you do a SW upgrade that leaves the ^up arrow window display with hidden, minimized windows?

build number is 24F5053j

others:

iOS 18.5 beta 3 (22F5053j)
iPadOS 18.5 beta 3 (22F5053j)
macOS 14.7.6 RC 2 (23H616)
macOS 13.7.6 RC 2 (22H616)
tvOS 18.5 beta 3 (22L5559d)
audioOS 18.5 beta 3 (22L5559d)
visionOS 2.5 beta 3 (22O5459c)
watchOS 11.5 beta 3 (22T5559d)

Just imagine: No useless feature, but three bugs less.

It's about time that Apple not only listed new features, but also provided proof of their work. When I download updates from the App Store, it often says “Problem solved with XY”. Apple doesn't do that.
The question is, do they just do nothing or are they still too proud to admit that their software is completely buggy?
