Apple today seeded the third beta of an upcoming macOS Sequoia 15.6 update to developers for testing purposes, with the software coming a week after Apple released the second macOS Sequoia 15.6 beta.

Developers can opt-in to the macOS Sequoia beta through the Software Update section of the System Settings app. An Apple ID associated with an Apple Developer account is required to get the beta.

There's no word yet on what's included in macOS Sequoia 15.6, and no new features were discovered in the first two betas. Apple's work on macOS Sequoia is winding down as it focuses on macOS Tahoe, the newest version of macOS that's coming in the fall.

How many betas before the release? I'm hoping some of 15.5 bugs were addressed

Hope all you want, 15.5 is extremely stable and work on Sequoia is winding down. 15.6 will likely be just a maintenance and security update. macOS Sequoia is done.

I'm still rather new to Mac OS, I would expect security updates to be rolled out as soon as possible, not every few months.

On the other hand, fixing bugs doesn't make an OS "unstable", I'd say it's part of the maintenance work.

Any news on the user-friendly Launchpad returning without having to go into the user-hostile Terminal and chant esoteric foreign languages to re-enable it?

They do issue emergency security updates when necessary, but it's not like Windows where you constantly have updates weekly.
