Apple today seeded the third beta of macOS Ventura 13.4 to developers for testing purposes, with the beta coming two weeks after the launch of the second beta.

Registered developers can download the beta through the Apple Developer Center and after the appropriate profile is installed, with the betas available through the Software Update mechanism in System Settings.

macOS 13.4 adds the simplified beta installation method that was first introduced in iOS 16.4. With the update, developers and public beta testers enrolled in Apple's respective programs can toggle on beta updates from System Settings on the Mac, without the need to install a profile.

An Apple ID associated with either a public beta account or a developer account is required to turn on beta updates, which means that it is no longer possible to use a developer profile not associated with a developer account to install the developer betas.

Apple Studio Display

Known Issues

  • Apple Studio Display firmware update starts showing progress but never completes. (107287354)
Workaround: To install other updates including future macOS Beta Updates, click “More info…” in Software Update Settings, uncheck Apple Studio Display firmware update, and click “Install Now.”

CSS

File Bookmark

Resolved Issues

SwiftUI

Resolved Issues

  • Fixed: Using ImageRenderer within a ShareLink’s preview closure crashed the running application. (107763234)

I'm guessing this is about the flickering issue that's been affecting more and more M1 Pro / Max MacBook Pros.

This was introduced on 13.3 and subsequently 13.3.1
Aha! Maybe that was what my colleague experienced today – he said his external screen suddenly "flashed" and then became stable again. Some version of Ventura on M1 Max.

I hope so, that bug has driven me made! MBP screen comes on and then goes off, only a power cycle fixes it

MacOS 13.4 beta 3

Looks like a RC next
I hope so as I can install it. I've found that once 13.2 is released I am no longer interested in the beta builds and opt for the RCs only. Not sure what everybody else thinks.

Constant crashes with external monitors. These issues have surfaced all along the Ventura cycle so it's worrying that they occur again at this supposedly stable end of the cycle.

The symptoms of this is the external monitor will lock up, but you can continue to work and shut down apps. If you try to disconnect and reconnect the external monitor you'll get a full freeze / KP. So your only option is to save your work and do a regular restart.

I attempted to install it without signing in just to see what would happen. It downloads and starts to install but the install hangs.

After force restart and signing in it then downloads again and installs correctly.

I know we were forewarned that signing in would be a new requirement, nevertheless it doesn’t say something like “you can’t download it without signing in” - or “you can’t install it without signing in” etc.

Furthermore why does it have to redownload the whole thing again after signing in?

It could just say it downloaded - now sign in to install - or something like that.

And why does it even download if not signed in anyway?

I think this can be better communicated than a hanging install without any reason given for the hang. I know the reason is that it wasn’t signed in, but will everyone know that?

Not sure if these would help.

Give examples involving external display interface utilized? Is this third party drivers, or particular connectivety you utilize? For example if using Studio Display does it regularly occur? Yes I seen some comments but seldom details to what is failing vs working,

Hey all, my name is Ben Weiss, and I'm reporter on the crypto desk at Fortune magazine. I'm posting here because we're trying to confirm earlier reports that the Bitcoin white paper was taken off of the macOS Ventura 13.4 Beta 3. I was wondering if anyone here help confirm this for me! You can message me on my Twitter @bdanweiss or email me at benjamin.weiss@fortune.com.

Yesterday the ipsw was available but not the full installer.

But the full installer is available now for Ventura 13.4 beta 3 build 22F5049e

Also available now are the full installers for the new Monterey and Big Sur betas. These updates came yesterday too as OTA only.

Build numbers for these are as follows:

Monterey 12.6.6 beta 2 build 21G639

Big Sur 11.7.7 beta 2 build 20G1338

You may wonder why these are called beta 2 not beta 3. The reason is that when the Ventura 13.4 beta 1 came out the Monterey and Big Sur betas were still on versions 12.6.5 and 11.7.6 and we only saw the first betas of 12.6.6 and 11.7.7 when the second beta of 13.4 came out.
