Apple today seeded the third beta of an upcoming tvOS 16.5 update to developers for testing purposes, with the beta coming two weeks after the launch of the second tvOS 16.5 beta.

Registered developers are able to download the tvOS 16.5 update by downloading a profile on the Apple TV using Xcode.

tvOS updates are usually minor, focusing on internal bug fixes and improvements rather than notable outward-facing changes. There is no word as of yet what's included in the tvOS 16.5 update, but we'll update this article if we find anything new.

Apple shares some information on tvOS releases in its tvOS support document, which is updated after each tvOS launch.

Though we don't often know what's new in tvOS during the beta testing process, we let MacRumors readers know when new updates are available so those who are developers can download it upon release.

A profile is no longer needed for Apple TV betas either - when selecting “get beta updates” from the software update menu you now get the choice of developer beta or public beta.
This seems to have been the case since the 16.4.1 release as I was able to upgrade a new Apple TV from 16.4.1 to 16.5 developer beta 2 without using a profile.

Since the last AppleTV OS and HomePod firmware updates, I have noticed that my HomePods, in stereo pair with the Apple TV, have drop outs where the audio stops working on one or the other, seemingly randomly. It is hard to isolate what the issue is, but I hope it is just a bug that was introduced in software and can be fixed, and not a sign of my HomePods dying!

Anyone know App Store bug has been fixed for the US tvOS App Store, where the link to go to the top 200 free and top 200 paid apps is missing?

I have left feed back on it when tvOS 16 launched and the link was removed, but it seems like not a priority to fix.
