Apple today seeded the third beta of an upcoming watchOS 3 update to developers for testing purposes, two weeks after seeding the second beta and more than a month after first unveiling watchOS 3 at its 2016 Worldwide Developers Conference.

The third watchOS 3 beta can be downloaded through the dedicated Apple Watch app on an iPhone by going to General --> Software update. To install the update, the Apple Watch must have 50 percent battery, it must be placed on the Apple Watch charger, and it must be in range of the iPhone.

watchOS 3 introduces significant changes to the watchOS operating system. A new dock, accessible by pressing the side button, replaces Glances and houses 10 favorite first and third-party apps. Apps on the dock are kept continually up to date and are stored in memory for instant launch times.

Activity Sharing options allow Apple Watch owners to share workout and activity information with friends, and there are new options for Wheelchair users. A Breathe app guides users through daily deep breathing sessions, an Apple Watch can unlock a Mac, and Apple has added apps for Reminders, Find My Friends, and accessing one's heartbeat.

Watch faces support more complications, there are three new watch faces to choose from, including a new Activity watch face, and an SOS feature will make sure an option to get help in an emergency is always right at your fingertips. On the iPhone, there's a new Face Gallery for customizing Apple Watch faces, and watchOS 3 allows the Apple Watch to be located via Find My iPhone.

For full details on the new features coming in watchOS 3, which will be released to the public this fall, make sure to check out our watchOS 3 roundup.

Here’s hoping it fixes the issue where the watch resets my watch faces every reboot…

I've noticed it fixes itself again if you then turn it off and on again. Weird, I know.

Interesting that watchOS and tvOS beta 3 are landing before iOS and macOS. Not that I am complaining.

Nope, I have iOS 10 beta 3 downloaded on my iPad.

Let's hope this fixes all the things that were broken.

One time it took me a few reboots to get mine back, and it's not quick to reboot. It got a little frustrating, but once it came back it didn't happen again.
Yeah this has only happened to me once, when my watch went into a respring (I guess?), and a restart fixed it. Only once though, I set the watch up as new when installing watchOS 3.

Hmmm. On Beta2 I didn't notice any reboots. I know I didn't initiate any. It's possible it rebooted/resprung itself and I didn't notice tho.

asd[iufabweofn;aslkdfnioEGPIgb I was gonna bring my watch charger to work TOMORROW. =(

Guess I'll just have to wait till tonight =)

I literally just had this happen to me, cause my Watch died! To that point, had terrible battery life with watchOS 3 thus far.
[doublepost=1468878150][/doublepost]I swear the Apple Watch updates server is much slower than the iOS one! 15 minutes for a 123mb download. What.

Time Travel is broken on this release.

Time travel needs to be deleted. It never really served its purpose in my opinion.
[doublepost=1468889599][/doublepost]Surprisingly the Watch rumors have been non existent. I am wondering if we still see a fall debut, unless the leaks/rumors start in August, otherwise it could be later in the year maybe. It could be Announced in September, debut prior to Black Friday? Similar to the 12.9 iPad Pro release last year.

The main use for Time Travel on my watch is, my niece loves to change the watch face to Mickey Mouse and then use Time Travel to move his hands.

I'm not convinced there's new hardware coming soon (maybe they'll hold off until Spring) - given that watchOS 3 on current hardware is being described as being like "a whole new watch", which I'm looking forward to (I'd love to try the beta but it requires putting iOS 10 beta on my iPhone and I'm not ready for that).

Great point about Watch OS 3 being like a whole new Watch. We are getting late in the quarter and it seems as if we would have heard more by now if there was new hardware. Which leads me to wonder what other hardware can we expect besides the iPhone 7, maybe a new MacBook Pro?

For less than the price of a watchband, you can stash a spare charger at work. Just sayin'. ;)

I was gonna do that! And it is a great idea. 2 reasons why that's temporarily impossible:

1. One of our cats chewed the one that came with the watch (the nice long one. that's what she said. except not anymore because thanks to the felines, it doesn't work.)

2. We're moving, and I need to save any extra $$. Poop.

I've had that a few times too when my watch went into power reserve and came back out of it with default faces.

I'm also hoping they've fixed the issue of the date complication getting stuck and not updating properly on the activity analogue face as my bug report just got closed as a duplicate. At one point the date shown on the face was 3 days behind and the only way to fix it was a reboot (which usually reset the faces back to default!) or remove and re-add the face.

I have never seen the point in time travel to be honest it just a pointless thing that apple have put in you only want to know the current time to be honest I never bother with time travel
