Apple today seeded the third beta of an upcoming watchOS 6.1.2 update to developers, one week after releasing the second beta and more than a month after releasing the watchOS 6.1.1 update with bug fixes.

Once the proper configuration profile has been installed from the Apple Developer Center, the new watchOS beta can be downloaded through the dedicated ??Apple Watch?? app on the iPhone by going to General > Software Update.

To install the update, the ??Apple Watch?? needs to have at least 50 percent battery, it must be placed on the charger, and it has to be in range of the ?iPhone?.

There's no word yet on what features are included in the watchOS 6.1.2 beta, and there were no new features discovered in the first two betas, but we'll update this article should anything new be found in the third beta.

Excellent update, had it installed for several hours now and my S3 is still sitting at 100%. My wife installed on her S1 at the same time and hers is still at 98%. Battery life looking great as usual.

There are still some users experiencing a runaway background process condition that is halving battery life and follows user IDs.

The most commonly suggested culprit is TrustedPeersHelper, an Apple ecosystem security helper that can be identified as also taking on heavy CPU loads on Mac Actvitiy Monitors (sadly no such utility exists for the watch so those experiencing this symptom are having difficulty forming consensus or getting engineering attention)

the problem is not the steady state - the problem is a sudden battery drain getting worse overtime due to bugs and data issues (such as health database growth)

Getting engineering attention on anything seems to be an issue. I filed multiple bugs (many very serious - what you would consider a P0 in a normal world) - crickets. I am not even sure they are all being reviewed - let alone triaged.

Keep it off the charger, and keep us updated! Let's see how long you can go until it goes into Power Reserve mode!

I've posted these results before, even before this update I could consistently get 3.5 to 4 days out of my S3 without charging and my wife could get 3 days out of her S1. I don't expect to get anymore than 4 days, maybe if I was extremely inactive I could get more than 4 but I stay very active and I use my watch a lot and do all the normal things with it.

I have a series 5 and it's acting really strangely. Battery life is dropping rapidly. Sometimes it won't charge past a certain percentage. Just refuses to. Today it would charge to 92% but no more.
Last night both my phone and the watch itself said it was at 100%, I took it off the charger and put the watch on and suddenly it was at 93%. Put it back on the charger but it wouldn't charge any more than that. Sometimes it will go all the way to 100%.
I wear it over night and I use to lose about 10% during the night and now I'm losing 20%+
I don't use the always on display. I hardly have any apps on my watch and most notifications are disabled. I'm not running the beta.

I've had battery issues with recent betas. When it first started, my Watch seemed to be draining a lot slower than normal. At the end of the day, it would show it had about 90%. I would put it on the charger, and, it would indicate it was fully charged after a few minutes. So, I would take it off the charger. By the end of the week, it would suddenly be in Power Reserve mode. When it was just indicating it had over 80%.
Mine did the same thing after this beta release. Appearing to drain very slowly. So, I'll do a restart and wait a few hours. If it doesn't seem right...I'll restart it again. It usually takes two or three restarts. Then, it seems to accurately display battery drain. That has been my experience, anyway.

No way. Not possible to get 3 to 4 days use on one charge. Kind of strange you are the only one. Unless, you aren't being honest. And, you're just estimating how long you could go IF you didn't charge it. The key word being...if.

I also have a series 3. Best battery life I've ever gotten was 2 full days. Max. All apps uninstalled that I could remove. Notifications off. 3 or 4 days? Hell no. No way.

Still having the issue today, after 3 restarts yesterday. Took off the charger this morning, with a full charge. Five hours later, it indicates it's at 99%. I know that's not right. I restarted again...84%.

Nope, not being dishonest about anything or estimating, I have tracked this several times and posted the results, I am also not the only one. There are actually lots of people that have excellent battery life. The thing about these threads is that you rarely hear about good things and it's mostly negative complaints.

Any chance this update allows the sunset and sunrise data into Infograph Modular watch face?

Not a chance. You're implying that a few people have "special" Watches, or, most have defective. Especially with your claim that you are a fairly heavy user.

Sorry, but that's not what I am trying to imply at all. I'm simply posting the experience that my wife and I have with our watches. I don't believe I ever said we were heavy users, I would say that we are average to above average users though and the amount of battery life that we have been getting is very consistent and there are others online that have had the same experience. I'm not sure what we do different than everyone else that does not get this kind of battery life but there has to be a specific combination of variables that is in fact affecting this.
