Apple today seeded the third beta of an upcoming watchOS 6.2 update to developers, one week after seeding the second beta and a month after the release of watchOS 6.1.2 with bug fixes.

Once the proper configuration profile has been installed from the Apple Developer Center, the new watchOS beta can be downloaded through the dedicated ??Apple Watch?? app on the iPhone by going to General > Software Update.

To install the update, the ????Apple Watch???? needs to have at least 50 percent battery, it must be placed on the charger, and it has to be in range of the ???iPhone???.

watchOS 6.2 introduces Apple Watch App Store support for in-app purchases, which will allow developers to create and sell Apple Watch apps that offer in-app purchase options and subscriptions.

Code in iOS 13.4, the companion update to watchOS 6.2, suggests that both the iPhone and the Apple Watch will in the future have a "CarKey" feature that will let them be used in lieu of a car key to unlock NFC-capable vehicles. It's not clear if this feature will be available when watchOS 6.2 launches, but it is in the works.

Very fast install, lets see if the excellent battery life holds up with this beta.

weirdly enough, i've never had a watchOS update ever go very quickly, either s0 or even when i upgraded to s4. i have a 400mbps service from my ISP, i do not use their hardware in favor of a netgear cm600 and an asus ac3100. i'm baffled

It's that way for everyone. Some people like to exaggerate.

About two updates ago, my battery life for the day on my watch 4 plunged from about 15 hours or so daily to only seven hours. In spite of turning off background refresh, and the many suggestions users had, my watch cannot make a full work day as it used to.

I sure hope 6.2 update addresses this.

and i don't really understand why it would be slow - doesn't really make much sense. i can stick both the phone and watch in direct vicinity of the router, and still have this issue. on one side, if it uses the phone to pull the update, even something like the sub 100mb updates should go quickly. if the watch is connected directly, the update should also go quickly.

doesn't make much sense to me.

The latest update to 6.1.3 created a condition where the battery life of these watches is cut in half!

Both days following updating to 6.1.3 my watch has died by dinner time. It has never died before bedtime, usually still having one third to half of it’s life left.

There’s definitely something in this update that eating my battery!

Why did the battery life get cut in less than a half when I updated 6.1.3?
