Apple today provided developers with new beta firmware for the AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 4, with an 8A293c version number. The firmware is only available to developers at the current time, and a device running iOS 26, iPadOS 26, or macOS 26 is required to install the update. This is the second beta so far.

The new firmware adds several features that Apple is debuting alongside iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS Tahoe.

The AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 4 support improved audio quality for phone calls and video calls, plus studio-quality audio recording for interviews, podcasts, and videos. There's also an option to use the AirPods as a camera remote with the Camera app to take photos or start a video recording.

With the latest updates, Apple added a firmware update installation option that's available from the AirPods settings interface when the AirPods are connected to an iPhone, iPad, or Mac.

I forgot and repaired my AirPods and still do not have any option to enable beta. 7E93 is what they are stuck on.

I’m on 93c. I don’t see the option for this “Apple added a firmware update installation option that's available from the AirPods settings interface when the AirPods are connected to an iPhone, iPad, or Mac.”

Neither do I. I'm not able to see those beta firmwares, no matter how many times I forgot and re pair my airpods.

Did any of you have already a beta installed?

I'm afraid that only those with already a beta installed on their airpods, have that option available.

14 pro here, ios26, airpods pro 2. No matter what I do, I can't see that option, I'm on the latest release version of airpods firmware.

I have been unable to see the option for the updates on my iPhone 15 Pro (iOS26 beta 2), but on my M1 iPad Pro (also on iPadOS26 beta 2) I am able to see the option. I am using the AirPods Pro 2 with the lightning case. It looks like they finally updated to the first beta, so I'll see if it updates to the second one faster than two weeks in.

Honestly my AirPods Pro 2 are a joke. They drop connection all the damn time and the sound randomly goes so low I might as well be wearing earplugs. This is my second pair thought the first one was a lemon but nope this is just seems to be how they’re built. I just don’t get it.

You have to be on the Developer Seed rather than Apple Beta Program or AppleSeed. As soon as you change that under the iOS update settings, the AirPods beta option appears when the case is open in the AirPods settings.
