Apple today seeded the release candidate version of an upcoming watchOS 11.1 update to developers and public beta testers for testing purposes. The new software comes approximately week after Apple released the fifth beta.

watchOS 11.1 can be installed by going to the Apple Watch app and selecting the Software Update section under "General" in Settings.

So far, no major new features have been discovered in the watchOS 11.1 update, though Apple's release notes indicate that there is a fix for an issue that could cause problems writing breathing disturbance data to the Health app.

watchOS 11.1 is expected to see a release alongside iOS 18.1 next Monday.

Nice, been waiting for this one. But was really checking MR to see if the new MBPs had been announced!

My battery life has went to absolute crap, as soon as I updated watchOS 11... Like six hours knocked off per day overnight. Disabled everything there is to disabled, including AOD, to no avail.

Any updates to battery life? I don't do betas, but would in this case.

This is not beta but the RC, probable release date is next Monday together with 18.1

My U2 battery life has been unchanged, have you rebooted both watch and phone? Turn live activities off on watch?

I already had live activities disabled. I just read about disabling photo memories syncing to the watch, which is fine, as I've never looked at a single photo on my watch so that's now disabled. Disabled "listen for Siri" as well, since I never use Siri on my watch, phone or anywhere else.

rebooted both several times since they updated.

We'll see.I'm currently losing 15%/hour.

Have you checked background refresh settings?
Do you have any non-Apple app installed that might be an issue?

I can see the use case. If you don’t want your phone with you and you have a cellular enabled AW, it would be useful to be able to take calls using the car’s system or play music from it.
That makes sense and ties in with my love of my cellular AW in not having to carry my phone with me. Would be nice to seamlessly fail over to my AW if it can't find my phone.

Anyone installed and confirmed it's solid? I have a race in a couple hours and I'm a bit hesitant on installing it. Might just wait until after the race.

Could you connect via Bluetooth to the car with the Watch?

Kind of bizarre, I’m on an 11.1 beta and am being offered 11.0.1 now on software update. Did they mess up the version number on the RC or are they actually letting me go backwards?

I just updated to it. The watch was on fire because some playlists were syncing on battery, which didn't prompt me for. Luckily I just set it on the charger and reboot and it's fine now.

Not a nice surprise a couple hours before a race.

can we get the ability to pair a Bluetooth keyboard with apple watch? would be nice to have the ability to just freely type into apple watch without a computer or iPhone. would be kind of cool. use any of the various note apps, synced to the cloud and then pickup later on the phone/computer.
