Apple today shared a new Apple Intelligence ad that promotes Genmoji, a feature that became available today with the launch of iOS 18.2 and iPadOS 18.2.

The spot features a custom song called "Anything You Like" by The Dare, and it runs through a list of rhyming Genmoji creations like gnome, foam, pink comb, and skeleton made out of chrome, showing each Genmoji as it's mentioned in the song.

Genmoji can be created on an Apple Intelligence-capable iPhone or iPad running the latest version of iOS or iPadOS. Genmoji are crafted in the Messages app from text-based descriptions, and can be shared with friends and family in text messages.

Just downloaded iOS 18.2 and I barely knew where to find the image creation features. Apparently it’s tucked away inside the emojis menu in the messages app, and even though I’ve downloaded iOS 18.2, it still needs to download the image creation feature? And there is no mention of ChatGPT in the Apple Intelligence settings menu, however I’m not sure if I want to enroll for that feature.

Just started using genmoji and creating genmoji of people I know. It’s mind boggling how good they look
Agreed! Sometimes. Some look incredible with how similar they are, and some don’t look anything like the people. My dad’s genmoji is VERY clearly my dad, hilariously so, but my mom’s genmoji doesn’t look anything like her.

DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO CREATE GENMOJI NOBODY HAS AN ANSWER AHHHHHHH

Not showing up in my emoji menu in messages. I already have image playground working btw so the model is downloaded.
In the emoji picker, there's a new button in the top-right corner, next to the search bar, with a smiley face and a "+", which indicates creating a new emoji. If you don't see it, maybe restart your device.

I had this problem too. I went to Settings --> General --> Keyboards and toggled on "Stickers" all the way at the bottom of the list under Emoji. Went back to the Messages app and the Genmoji worked.

Now i finally understand why new emojis have been always more important, than f. e. fixing bugs in the mail client...
They actually are. Apple has to conform to the Unicode standard (which emoji are part of) so as soon as Unicode releases new emojis Apple and others conform right away or it can lead to some seriously nasty bugs.

Thank you!!!

That was so non obvious. Did I miss some instructions somewhere because I doubt most of the people trying it out today figured that out :/

You're welcome and nope, you didn't miss anything. It was completely hidden. I stumbled across the setting on a random YouTube comment.

I guess I'm an outlier but I'm looking forward to this. I do like the idea expressing through emojis, but never find ones that suit what I'm trying to convey. Still, I love answering my wife only with silly emojis as answers to her serious questions, like a rebus. Shame it's not for macOS yet (since that's the only place I can use Apple AI for now)
