I think I need to see this years colors in real life to make a decision. I’m not sold yet on the color that is.
You know if it’s not a hit, Apple has a backup plan for mid cycle (March 2023). It looks like the right tone of purple for a pro phone though. But I think Midnight Blue or a Lavender that was being used in renders might be what they go for.

Minor point, but the apple store depicted in the beginning and end of the video is actually the one on the Upper West Side, not the Fifth Ave cube. The cube is shown briefly in the middle but it wasn’t filmed inside.

iPhone 14 Pro is a solid upgrade over 13 Pro. Predictable but solid.

But considering how low 13 Pro will go on sale post 14 launch, 14 and 14 Plus are extremely low value per dollar by comparison:

13 Pro will potentially (depending on location and offers) be same price or lower than 14/14 Plus but has almost 10% better battery life, same great SoC, 6GB RAM instead of 4, 120Hz ProMotion display with adaptive refresh rate OLED over regular 60Hz OLED, 3 camera setup with telephoto lens instead of 2 (14 has better low-light photography), LiDAR scanner, 6x optical zoom instead of 2x, physical SIM-tray and eSIM, more attractive color options and finishes(steel over aluminium), 1000 nits display brightness (typical) over 800, Night Mode portraits, Macro photography, Apple ProRAW formats, ProRes and Macro video recording.

14 gets none of what I just listed for 13 Pro but instead gets Satellite Emergency feature, Crash Detection, better low-light photography (but no telephoto lens), Photonic Engine for better low-light photos(next gen. Night Mode?), Action Mode for video (next gen video stabilisation?), 1.9 aperture, Cinematic Mode in 4k HDR over 1080p no HDR, Bluetooth 5.3 instead of 5.0., about 32 grams lighter than 13 Pro.

TLDR: If you can get 13 Pro or 13 Pro Max at the same or lower than the (standard) 14 and 14 Plus counterparts then you'd be a fool to pick the latter.

Especially outside US/CA, post iPhone 14 launch sales for older iPhones should make all iPhones 13 much greater value compared to 14 and 14 Plus.

*Yes, the camera upgrades from standard 13 to standard 14 are impressive. But 13s Pro have way superior camera hardware and software processing than 14 by far.

What you see in this video when the 4 models are presented with their backs to the camera is quite clearly very true to real life conditions and looks to be as well lit as your average brick and mortar Apple store.

And this is where the purple either wins your over or looses you -It's so dark yet desaturated that you could almost mistake it for a grey or black or some new iteration of Apple's "Space Grey" color.

It doesn't have the brightness and paleness of the purple we got for 12 and standard 14. But this is so lacking in saturation that it almost doesn't read as purple, at least not in real life.

A purple hue of Space Grey is probably the best description.

Finally they acknowledge that the only available sizes are “big” and “bigger”! :D

The "Space Black" looks more like a dark gray to me personally but you're right it is hard to judge this way.
Space black is a darker space grey. Hopefully it will expand to the Mac line up next month.

A fool? Hardly. Try not to speak for everybody.

If you're a photographer. (I am) and a huge portion of your life is making and processing photographs with your phone, then the superior cameras and processing, make the 14 Pro Max a no-brainer.

I think they were pretty clearly comparing the value of the 13 Pros to the standard 14s.
