Apple today shared a teaser trailer for "The Mosquito Coast," a TV series starring Justin Theroux that's coming to Apple TV+ on Friday, April 30.

Adapted from the novel of the same name, "The Mosquito Coast" follows a radical inventor who uproots his family and moves to Mexico to escape the U.S. government.
From award-winning novelist and creator Neil Cross, and based on the best-selling book by Paul Theroux which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, "The Mosquito Coast" is a gripping adventure and layered character drama following the dangerous journey of a radical idealist and brilliant inventor, Allie Fox (played by Justin Theroux), who uproots his family for Mexico when they suddenly find themselves on the run from the US government.
The first two episodes of the show will premiere on April 30, with five additional episodes to follow each Friday following the launch. Along with Theroux, the series stars Melissa George, Logan Polish and Gabriel Bateman.

Will it be better than the movie from the 80’s? (Not that the movie was terrible.)

About all I remember is him trekking that ice up the mountain. Is that a spoiler? Lol

OOOOH, Apple bringing it with all the new show announcements today!! I've been waiting for news about this and Lisey's Story ever since I heard they were in production. REALLY looks top quality!

I think it looks good, reminds me of Ozark. Not sure why people continue to crap on Apple TV+, I find it to be a great service.
This x 100. Btw, very few people are "crapping" on Apple TV+ anymore. At least, not the ones I meet in public, and chat with on the internet/social media.

The people who diss TV+ are people with either horrible taste in entertainment, are anti-Apple (looking at you, Android4Life ppl), or who pre-judge TV/movies before watching even one episode.

The normal people (which is most) who don't fall into those groups certainly don't have this vitriol against TV+ (and many others are glowing with how great the content quality has been).

Awkward! Jen and Justin on the same network. It would be one thing if it were a huge network like Netflix. But this is like sitting next to each other on the bus given how few shows Apple TV+ has.
Lol. They are still friends. When their dog died there was a huge deal on the internet about how they reunited to put the dog to sleep and they posted a picture of their hands together holding the dog's paw or something. Supposedly he posts to her semi regularly on social media.

That's a fair point, I really only see it on this site. Anyone I talk to loves the service. From a purely original content standpoint, I'd consider it the best.

I've been very satisfied with TV+, but I'm also not paying for it. That's where it gets tricky. Are you going to allocate $5 to TV+ or could that money go to Netflix, Disney or HBO. I am paying for Netflix, and HBO Max comes with my ATT Fiber. By this time next year though, the amount of original content won't be a reason to dismiss TV+ any longer.

I haven't had a chance to watch all the Apple TV shows. My viewing is done primarily with family and so we've followed a few family friendly shows like "All Creatures Great and Small." "Ted Lasso" is family friendly, isn't it? If so, we will get to binge watch that eventually and maybe the show about Emily Dickinson.

My husband and I are wanting to get back into Servant, the trailers look amazing, but with the pandemic we haven't had the chance to watch it with kids under foot.

We did away with most of our televisions several years ago. Lol that decision is coming back to bite us! We may have to watch Servant on the iPad in our room before we go to sleep. I imagine that will give me some interesting nightmares!

I can't wait for The Morning Show. I think Apple TV is going great so far, from my perspective as a viewer. I don't know how they're doing from a business perspective.

I could be different than most as I just use the Apple One premier tier for Apple TV+, Music, Fitness+, and iCloud storage. On top of that I pay for Netflix, HBO, and Hulu. It's a lot, but I share with others and it comes back to me with other things so I don't mind too much.

As a Mexican the whole premise is DOA. Another Hollywood or American centric façade. One million Americans live in Mexico, its largest expat community abroad, most of them illegals I must say, and the whole drug cartel, kidnapping thing has been beaten to death by now.

So will this whole thing be in yellow tint as all US shows who are depicting "Mexico" are

i was about to comment on the contrast mexico is always shown in. like you cross the border and all of a sudden the crappiest instagram filter gets applied to everything. it really looks nothing like that.

and before someone says, that's just the style of the show, it happens within the same show movies too. you are in the states, everything is normal, cross the border and all of a sudden you are in a saw movie + yellow.

I don't see how this can be a series, maybe a mini-series but not a continuous series.

TLDR: A Father who loses his mind and bullies his family to Honduras. Or in this case Mexico(which apparently isn't under the US control. Irony.)
