Apple shipped a 45w AC adapter with my 12" PowerBook. Mistake?

My buddy bought a 1.5GHz PowerBook G4 new in the box from the Apple Store 5 years ago and it came with a 45w ac adapter... I was always under the impression that PowerBooks needed 65w chargers?

I know one time my battery died on my PowerBook and I tried a 45w charger and it wouldn't even start up.

If he bought it 5 years ago I assume he's been using it and charging with it, no? Are you just now getting around to asking? Bet your "friend" is pissed at your procrastination!

The MacBook Pros need 65W adaptors (or higher).

The 15" shipped with 65w. 45w with the 12". Although 45w was sufficient, just would take longer to charge.

My PowerBook 12in (Used) came with the original 45w charger as well. i now have a 65w charger i am useing with it and it works fine
