I thought this night that the name ultra doesn’t mean anything related to the Watch.
There is nothing Ultra, no ultra battery, no ultra screen, no ultra sensors

But they introduced their Watch by 3 explorers, summit, desert and deep water.

The ultra is advance for exploration, not ultra specification

That’s my thought

That name has already been taken by another watchmaker. But yeah, that would’ve been perfect.

Even if they modify it a bit by adding ”Ultra” it would still seem copy-cattish.

Haah see the irony when some guys said the ultr is not enough rugged and Rolex bring their Explorer ^^ 🤣

It’s all about marketing. I think a lot of people by the ‘Pro’ or ‘Ultra’ models because it induces FOMO even if they aren’t the intended audience…or they don’t want to be seen as lesser than someone else.

If it was called something like ‘Apple Watch Sport’ or ‘Apple Watch Explorer’, it doesn’t sound as cool as ‘Apple Watch Ultra’ and most would probably stick with the main models if there was no additional features they needed.

It's actually almost the opposite of your second sentence... Battery is double, screen has double brightness, has an extra depth gauge, extra GPS bands etc.

But if it's not for you, It's not for you. Tu préfères quoi?

It’s ironic because I could said the same as you loybond :

« It's actually almost the opposite of your second sentence... Battery is double, screen has double brightness, has an extra depth gauge, extra GPS bands etc. »

Battery and screen only the double, not 2 weeks battery or 3D screen (ok 2000 nits is pretty impressive)
GPS is dual frequency when or brand have 4

The terme ultra mean ultimate for me, the most as possible
