1) They under-estimated the market. They had whole 6 months to make productions for April 24th. But look at all the ads they have posted, I am guessing that they want the first day sale to look nice, but they are not confident at the same time. So they did not produce a lot.
2) Thus, they put China into the first few releasing countries. China has a Huge market, their population is somewhat 4X U.S. population. And their demands is astonishing as well. Apple should not make such a decision when they are not having enough stock.
3) While a lot of us are waiting for shipments in May, June and even July, Apple watch is gonna hit more European countries really soon. What are they gonna sell when they are not having stock? They may cause the same chaos like what has happened in this forum right now.
