The iPhone 4S has a great camera, but it's limited in it's capabilities due to the lack of manual control. Imagen if Apple decided to open up API's so you could manually set the ISO and shutter speed. Then the iPhone 4 would really be a competitor for "real" camera's. The only reason the iPhone isn't so good in low light conditions is because Apple can't afford iOS to use a shutter speed of 5 seconds. But if you could set that manually, I'm pretty sure the iPhone would be capable of great night shots.

And it's finally here (for example, Camera+ has full manual controls). Awesome.

Not very good pictures, but you want to see the difference it makes?! :D

This one was taken with the default iOS camera app:

And this one was taken with Manual (I have Camera+, but haven't given the new version a spin yet):

I haven't messed with ISO/Shutter numbers for years and years now, so will have to freshen up on it, but am pretty impressed.
