Hi!

I purchased a macbook pro m2 16-inch a couple of weeks ago and soon realised that when I docked it to my Samsung monitor (about 10 year old model) the text appeared blurry on the screen. I also tried it on my projector and two other monitors that are kinda of old as well with the same result. After some internet searching I found this is a common problem with Apple silicon, which wasn't the case for intel-based macbooks (see this link: Why external monitors look awful with Apple Silicon). The workaround described in the link did not work for me. After talking with a coulple of Apple support employees, one of them finally admitted they may have some issues with the Silicon chips compatibility and she recommended that I try a monitor with usb-c port (all 4 I have tried have been hdmi-only-monitors/projector). As I don't have an usb-c monitor available to try on, I ended up returning the Macbook before the opportunity had passed.

Now I'm in a kind of a situation that I'm considering buying a PC after all, despite being abit bored with Windows after 25 years usage. But, I'm also considering buying a new monitor and perhaps a less expensive macbook air, but I wouldn't do that unless I knew that the monitor I'm buying is compatible with the mac (I'm not considering buying a mac monitor, they are too expensive). So, I finally land in my question to you guys. Does anyone know if it's true that monitors will work fine using the usb-c port when connected to an Apple Silicon based mac? And/or do you know any non-apple monitors/projectors in particular that will work for sure?

Thanks for listening!

Too bad you returned your awesome MBP! If you decide to purchase again, consider this handy little utility to help you get the most out of your "old" displays w/ Apple Silicon.

Hi. Thanks for the tip although I did try that app before I returned the macbook pro, but unfortunately it didn't help me. The image got somewhat better but was still blurry, and not the same good quality that I have with my old windows system.
