I like Autosleep and want to continue using it however I like that in the Apple sleep function it shutdowns and disables the screen automatically.

Can I run both Apple sleep and Autosleep or will I end up with my sleep data in a mess?

Apple sleep synchronises the data to Health. Autosleep on the iPhone reads that data out from Health.
I deleted Autosleep on my watch and the phone app continues to update.

Thing is I don't want to delete Autosleep, I prefer the data breakdown it gives me.

he said he deleted autosleep on his watch -- you can keep it on your phone for breakdowns. i may do the same.

and just to reiterate - autosleep itself doesn't capture any data. it interprets the data that the watch captures overnight

I deleted it from the watch, not the phone because I never ever looked at it on the watch. That data breakdown is still there on my phone.

I'm sorry, I can't answer your question as to whether they'll co-exist.

Sorry missed the crucial bit! understand now, thank you.

Should I turn off Autosleeps ability to write to health? I noticed when I do this the days stay blank but the data is there.

I’m very happy to hear they coexist. I prefer the info that autosleep gives me.

Here's what the dev wrote to me about running both:

They work completely independently.
Personally, I don't use the Apple one as I find the scheduling very rigid and hard to use.
It is also not as accurate as AutoSleep, doesn't track naps, and has a major design flaw in how it tracks time in bed, so you often see that time in bed is less than time asleep. Really weird.

But you can use both quite happily and mix and match which parts you want to use.

The only thing to consider is which app you want to use in the Apple Health app Summary views (if you ever use that).
If you select Sleep in Health on the Browse tab,
Then scroll all the way to the bottom.
Then select Data Sources & Access.
Then Edit in the top right.
You can now choose which app is given precedence for sleep tracking in the Health app.

Of course AutoSleep uses its own tracking so that setting only affects Apple Health.

Yeah. Using both. Didn’t delete AutoSleep from my watch and I still get two set of data separately. One from Apple Sleep in the Health app. Another from AutoSleep in their app which shows different data. I like that.

I read I think in the apple info that the SpO2 (Blood Oxygen tracking) only worked during sleep if the Apple sleep function was enabled. I am running both, not sure which has "precedence", but am getting the SpO2 info in Health for overnight.
