Didn't know where else to post this.

An Apple sales specialist directed me to ERASE my MBP from my Find My account. I did that and wiped the the entire effing hard drive. I called tech support and they said, no you need to REMOVE it from your account.

Beware of the difference. I may be an idiot, but being just a little proactive by using precise language and linking proper instructions would help any non-sysadmin customers.

Sounds like the Apple specialist's first language isn't English and they were using the closest word they knew to "remove" to describe what they needed you to do. When you were directed to "Find My" and/or your Apple ID account to "erase your MBP", did you not find it strange that there wasn't an option to erase the device, and instead an option to remove it? Not sure how you got from that to wiping the entire hard drive, which is a very specific process.

Live and learn, I guess, but this is why I press everyone not familiar with the technology they're using to utilize Apple's training resources (e.g., my boomer parents) before they start using even mildly advanced features. Also, question the process next time. Hope you had a backup, friend. If not...

Operator error. Like chrisdazzo says, erasing a drive is not an option for the Find My application.
