The app was already available in the U.S., the U.K., Canada, Austria, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, and Spain.

Launched in February 2024, the Apple Sports app shows scores, stats, standings, upcoming games, and more for a variety of leagues. Today's update, which brings the app to version 3.5, is rolling out now in the App Store.

A few months ago, Apple Sports was updated with a few improvements, including the addition of a Home Screen widget and the ability to schedule Live Activities for upcoming events. The app remains available on the iPhone only.

This app is a good candidate to find some DMCA bs and avoid releasing it in EU altogether Apple, don't miss that chance!

Does the update add the ability to silence alerts? I uninstalled it several months ago because I couldn't find a way to do that in the app or in device settings. I just want to see alerts about starts, scores, finals, etc., not hear them, too.

I don’t watch sports and even Incan tell this is pretty much a useless app.

And what’s with the app icon? Are they holding contest for the most ugly icon at Apple?

I'd like it so much more if they became the only sports app NOT to include gambling lines. I'm so sick of seeing gambling odds every single place I look, on the internet, in sports apps, on TV... I think I hate sports gambling.

Now live in The Netherlands too, without the Eredivisie (the Dutch premier league) or even support for major events like the world cup speed skating.

But hey I can follow NFL American college football 🤷‍♂️

Hopefully the support for new leagues and major events as Olympics, World Cups and so on will be added shortly.

Wouldn't hold your breath and hope it's not on the same release schedule as Look Around in maps.

You can easily turn them off in the settings app. Nice to include for those of us who want an idea of what Vegas thinks a game will look like.

I recently deleted the Sports app. The number of new apps I add (or delete) has slowed to a trickle in recent years because I have the core functionality I need, innovation is minimal, and too many apps are only tools to suck your data for their benefit. Sports didn't fill any need because I care mostly about pro cycling and golf, not the major team sports that are the focus of Sports and attract bettors. Sure, I watch lots of NFL, but that league is so over-exposed that I didn't need Apple's app, so Sports was an easy and satisfying app to purge.

I like this app a lot. It's simple, no frills and the Live Activities integration is great.

With that said, how is this still not available for Apple Watch or iPad??
It’s, unironically, one of Apple’s best creations in recent memory. It’s much faster than the ESPN app for live scores.
