The free Apple Sports app for the iPhone was updated today with support for Formula 1 (F1) racing and UEFA Women's Champions League soccer.

Apple has shown increased interest in F1 racing over the past few years. The company is releasing an F1 film starring Brad Pitt in theaters on June 27, and later on Apple TV+. In addition, Apple CEO Tim Cook waved the checkered flag at an F1 race in 2022. And now, you can keep up to date with F1 race information in the Apple Sports app.

The release notes for version 2.6 of the Apple Sports app:
• Now on Apple Sports, follow UEFA Women's Champion's League as the top teams compete for the most renowned title in European soccer.

• Calling F1 fans! Follow all the excitement on the track this season with Apple Sports, including live leaderboards, lap times, and more.
Launched in February 2024, the Apple Sports app shows scores, stats, standings, upcoming games, and more for a variety of leagues, such as the NFL, MLB, MLS, NBA, NHL, Premier League, and others. The free iPhone app is available in the App Store.

The app remains limited to the U.S., the U.K., and Canada.

I just downloaded this app for the third time, checked it out… and deleted it again. I’m much happier with theScore app.

I like the app because it automatically starts the live activity on my lock screen for "my teams". However, when there are multiple games ongoing, there will be overlapping score activities. And sometimes the activity for a game that I am more interested in will be covered up by a game I am less interested in but still want the activity for.

So, does anyone know of a way to be able to switch which activities are the first in the stack of games? Or to state it another way, is there a way to change the display order of the live activities?

Thanks.

I already get my F1 news from F1 directly, so no real help there. Wanna roll my F1TV app subscription into my iCloud subscription?

The app needs:
  • Sports category navigation bar with stats screen like standings
  • Individual sports (golf, tennis)

I follow on the F1 app, but this is still a great addition. Let's see how it looks this weekend.

The app has gotten better with more leagues, but I'm still surprised there's nothing for World Cup, Euro, etc. It's not just the tournament, qualifying happens leading up to the event. Some qualifying matches happening this month.

It’s still lacking a lot of the sport I follow, but the ones it does have work pretty well.

For me it needs the other lower English football leagues (championship / league 1 / league 2), rugby union, women’s super league and the Scottish premier league adding, and some cricket wouldn’t go amiss either.

The range of sports / leagues available and the order and in which they have been added since this app was released seems extremely random so far.

I’ve never been able to get this to work.
Granted I only use it for Premier League and other UK matches, but it’s weird that it doesn’t work.

I have a named team and have live activities switched on, but it just doesn’t auto-start games. I have to go into the game and click the clock icon. Annoying.

Anyone get this to work with Premier League/FA Cup matches?
