Does anyone know if Apple will still replace batteries on iphone 2g and what is the cost? I could not find it on Apples website as it goes to iPod pricing page.

I've read that apple discontinues servicing products older than 5 years.

I'd call up your local store and ask them.

As of June 11, the original iPhone is no longer supported except in the state of California, as required by a state law. Though eventually that will expire at some point as well.

So if you live in California or can reach an Apple store there, you're in luck for now. If not, you won't be able to get a battery replacement from Apple.

Ah that sucks. Will have to ask my friend in California to take it in for me:rolleyes:

jealous that you still have one. I wish I kept mine looking back now. :(

I called Apple and they apparently do not have any clues about replacing cost for the first iphone.

Wait seriously? That sucks! It might not sting too bad with an iPhone, but what are you supposed to do when your Macbook battery needs replacing and it's over five years old? I know lots of people who use their laptops more than five years..

1. A third party vendor
2. Replace battery yourself
3. Buy a new laptop
4. Maybe the servicing last longer for their line of laptops and desktops
