Following the launch of Apple Creator Studio this week, Apple has quietly stopped selling its "Pro Apps Bundle for Education" separately, but it remains available with the purchase of a Mac on Apple's Education Store on the web.

"Pro Apps Bundle for Education" includes one-time-purchase versions of Apple's Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, Motion, Compressor, and MainStage apps at a steep discount, with U.S. pricing set at $199.99. Purchasing each of the included apps separately costs $629.95, so the bundle provides more than $400 in savings.

Anyone who has already purchased the bundle separately can continue to use the apps.

Apple also appears to be cracking down on sharing the apps included in the bundle. According to a MacRumors tipster, sharing the apps with others as a ZIP file no longer works, as the recipient will receive an error when opening the apps.

Apple Creator Studio is a new subscription bundle that provides access to Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, Pixelmator Pro, Motion, Compressor, and MainStage on the Mac and/or iPad, with U.S. pricing set at $12.99 per month or $129 per year. One-time-purchase versions of all six apps remain available on the Mac for now.

A subscription to Apple Creator Studio also unlocks "intelligent features" and "premium content" in apps like Pixelmator Pro, Numbers, Pages, Keynote, and later Freeform.

For college students, Apple Creator Studio costs only $2.99 per month or $29.99 per year.

This article has been revised to reflect that the Pro Apps Bundle for Education remains available through the Apple Education Store with the purchase of a Mac.

I wonder how long these apps will be supported with updates before they force you over to the subscription.
Yeah. I had been considering to get the bundle at the student price, suspecting that they would stop selling it eventually… But I never spent those 200€ purchasing them because it’s a substantial amount of money and as you said, we don’t know how long they will be updating them before pushing us to the ****ing subscription. As far as I know, the perpetual license of Pixelmator Pro isn’t getting the latest updates, right?

Maybe I’ll use the student subscription for the maximum amount of time I can, learn to use FCP and LP, and then see if it’s worth the more expensive regular subscription.

I ****ing hate software rental from the bottom of my heart.

Figured this was going to be the next move- wonder if these apps are still going to get updates or if they are going to sunset them and well be forced to pay for the subscription

Oh just be still my heart. I understand the possible attraction for content creators, a group I would not be considered eligible to join. Great new revenue stream for Apple, a way to get separately licensed products bundled to get more revenue from them, and totally unnecessary for any of my uses. For me, a non-event, though I hope I will still have use of Numbers and Pages as free, permanent, supported apps without subscription.

This is honestly infuriating. I’ve been waiting for months now to buy an M5 Pro MBP. Was planning on buying this bundle as soon as I got the computer. I almost purchased the bundle earlier this week in anticipation, but decided to hold off until I had the computer in hand.

I mean, Apple got what they wanted. Now I don’t really have a choice but to do the subscription service. I am an actual educator, by the way. Not just trying to game the system.

So, here I am, still without a laptop, but I can no longer buy this bundle. Thanks a lot, Apple.

Any word on if there's going to be education pricing on the subscription? I work at a school and we currently have a subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud but if Apple offered a cheap enough alternative, we might switch.

You can still get the Education Pro Apps Bundle as an add-on when you buy a Mac

Following the launch of Apple Creator Studio this week, Apple has quietly stopped selling its valuable "Pro Apps Bundle for Education" (archived link).

Purchasing each of the included apps separately costs $629.95, so the bundle provided more than $400 in savings.

While the bundle was sold through Apple's online education store since its launch in 2017, there was no student or teacher verification system in the U.S. and certain other countries, so most customers were able to purchase it.

Anyone who already purchased the bundle can continue to use the apps.

Well, there's a student discounted subscription price of $2.99 per month or $29 per year. Y'all should have mentioned that here, too. Really sloppy reporting on this subject lately.

Of course something getting more expensive is going to cause outrage in Macrumors. But this bundle was insane, specially given it's been receiving updates for 9 years. And I understand why some people hate subscriptions, but it's also a much better model for some other people -- definitely better for students in this case.
