Not sure if this is just in Japan, but Apple seems to have merged all gift cards into a single card.

Up until last week Apple Store gift cards and App Store gift cards were separate. For example you could not purchase a phone with an App Store email gift card. You could only purchase music and apps etc. Conversely, you could not purchase apps and music with the Apple Store gift card. But today I noticed that they were no longer separate. They also have a completely new design.

Says you can purchase hardware, apps and cloud services all with the same card.

Is it Japan only?

It has been like this in the US for over a year now, since July 2020.

Hi. Ok well, since that is only last year, that confirms that this is a recent reorganization of the gift cards across the globe. Glad to see the change since having separate cards was really stupid.

Hasn’t changed in the UK. With Black Friday purchases I got 2 x £40 Apple store gift cards. Was curious about adding them to my Apple account as I’d read about the US changes last year but they’re still separate. Which is fine, I buy enough to make use of them, but it would be great to have them all merged eventually.
