Apple today updated its Apple Store app for iOS devices to version 3.5, adding support for the new iPhone 6s and the iOS 9 operating system. Apple's release notes for the update are vague, so there are no details on what new features the app might have for iOS 9 and the iPhone 6s.

It's possible the Apple Store app update adds support for the 3D Touch feature built into the new iPhones, enabling Quick Actions that can be accessed directly from the Home screen, but it's also possible this is a simple compatibility update that makes sure the app works properly with the new devices. We'll update this post when we learn more about what's new in today's update.
What's New in Version 3.5
- iOS compatibility update
- Adds support for iPhone 6s
The Apple Store app can be downloaded from the App Store for free. [Direct Link]

Update: Today's update does indeed add 3D Touch Quick Actions to the Apple Store app. A force press from the Home screen on the app icon will bring up options to open the app directly to the store, a list of retail stores, or orders placed.

If someone in New Zealand or Australia updates and finds anything new, feel free to post and I'll update the article. Will be a bit before we've got the new devices here in the United States.

These are the new 3D Touch options for the store

maybe 3d touch will be useful someday but i'm just not feeling it. Especially since only one of my iOS devices will have it it may even frustrate me when I try to use it on a non-3D iOS device to the point where I just turn it off to have consistency between devices. Maybe in a few years when all of my devices have it.

I'll see tomorrow I guess.

Ok so I have now been using 3D Touch for about 3 hours now. Picked up my old phone and went to use 3D Touch on it and felt lost. You pick it up very quickly. Sooner developers start putting out apps that support it the better. I do note that Dropbox has updated today to support it. My apps I'm waiting for is Facebook and tweetbot

Still can't get my head around why people need shortcuts only to then spend 17 hours of their day swiping their screen to death on Facebook.

What is the difference between "Shop" and clicking on the regular App icon? Isn't the store icon purpose is for shopping?
I think it's there just in case you want to open the app normally, but you already forced touched the icon! The camera one also has the obvious "take a picture"

That's what I mean! What about people also using iPads and iPods too? It will be confusing!
