Just found this out today and also find it a tiny bit shocking...

I went into Apple Store Brent Cross and asked if they would be stocking the iPhone3G. I saw them putting up a demo unit in the window of the store. When i asked them if they would be stocking it they said they are not sure yet and havent been informed. This is shocking. Its their TRADEMARK PRODUCT and they are not sure at this late stage.

he was probably new and didn't know what they were talking about

Same story in other stores... 2 days before and they don't know yet - I suspect this was such a last minute change that they just haven't had time to arrange anything.

I went to the Regent Street store today and was told that they would be stocking the iPhone and when asked about the 16Gb white was also told yes, but they would not say when it would be opening on the 11th. They said an update was due tonight on the website.

That is good news if true.

when I asked at the Birmingham bullring apple store they all they didnt know if they would be selling the iPhone on Friday. Said apple is very secretive and let's them know always at the last minute.

They're probably tired of people asking them if they are going to stock one of their most popular products.

Why wouldn't an Apple store carry the iPhone?
