Does this mean a new product will be available for purchase or do they typically do this even for announcements?

Saw this... was trying to buy something

Funny how they took it down at 10am EST.

Typically this is for product updates. Especially since it's right before an announcement....

Woo hoo!

UK store went down whilst I was trying to add express checkout options. They'd better not open pre-orders immediately, before I've managed to enable this! That would be very annoying! Knew I should have done it earlier!

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_1 like Mac OS X; en-gb) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8G4 Safari/6533.18.5)

Down in the UK too

Yeah, that figures. Usually happens around this time. Can't wait to see it when it comes back up after the keynote this afternoon.

Please, please, please let this indicate online pre-ordering. I don't care if it is release day delivery or in-store pick up.

I just want to buy today and not worry about launch crowds.

If they allow pre-ordering, I may just forego getting it at Best Buy (I have over 600 bucks in Reward Zone certificates and gift cards), and order through the Apple Store.

Don't get your hopes up.

They did the same thing last year, also about 3 hours ahead of the event. No preorders then, so the store being down really doesn't suggest anything one way or the other.

Apple Online Store Officially Down

I know - but for some reason I think they might this year. Even if it's not today, I just want to pre-order from Apple.

I have hopes that they will have more inventory at launch this time around.
