This seems to be they're chosen maintianence time.

You may see a new sw title of two, or something new in the refurb area, but not likely any product announcemts.

we've had a LOT of threads on this subject... it seems that the apple store has been down on numerous occasions with no new stuff..

also, it isnt of apples histroy to release stuff on sundays, or the weekends for that matter, unless thereis a conference of some sort.

The thing that keeps these topics coming every year, is that Apple performs maintenance before every expo and event.

Whenever Apple is releasing products, the Apple Store usually goes down a few times about a week or two in advance. Apple is trying to make the store run smoothly so that any traffic boosts that day do not knock down the server.

Apple will likely have a few products that will have people pricing out PowerMacs after MWNY, so they're just taking a precaution.
