How desperate is this

Spoken by Apple Store Genius Bar employee directly to a customer in Jacksonville, FL. In a location which, ironically, is covered by Sprint 4G. Surely Apple doesn't need to misrepresent the competition?

Discuss.

a misinformed salesperson is a misinformed salesperson. What's to discuss. The same misinformation is spread at Sprint, Verizon and every other store.

It will be YEARS before it's even in most major cities let alone widespread throughout the US like 3G is. That's there only selling point these days..

Yeah, but they do have it, and AT&T doesn't. On top of the, by the time AT&T does start to roll out their 4G coverage Sprint will have better coverage.

True, but I can certainly ATT updating/upgrading/improving existing technology than taking a huge leap forward at this time.

Aren't geniuses sent to Cupertino for training and certification? Or is OP talking about a regular store front employee?

We have it Raleigh-Durham. The EVO is SUPER FAST. The only problem is the battery is dead by the time you hit the eighth website. :D

4G is in Linden, Elizabeth, Roselle NJ .. all relatively small local areas. That's 20 miles from NYC. 3G speeds are 2x as fast here, but 4G is in more places than you think. Just not "officially."

Every time i tried to look at that my iPad kept switching orientation, I tried it a good 3 or 4 times before I realized my lovely screen orientation lock switch did still exist. Also sales people are all moronic imbeciles (yes I just doubled those words together). I heard some sales person from T-Mobile tell a woman that they had more coverage than AT&T, I just turned around and laughed and let him play his game.:D

I doubt that.

A friend of mine was a part-time "Genius" (guess he was a dummy the rest of the time :) ) in a NYC and then a NJ store. He spent around 3 weeks in Apple school in Cupertino all expenses paid for training before he went to a store. This was about 2 years ago. It may have changed since, don't know.

Interesting.
Not sure if it would be cost effective for them to send every single "Genius" to CA for 3 weeks to train them instead of training them locally.
But never know, Apple does some weird stuff :)
