Does anyone on the forums work at an Apple Store? What are you? Cashier, Mac Specialist, or Mac Genius? How is it? How's the pay?

Apparently, I heard that Mac employees can't frequent mac forums. Is this true?

Why all the questions? I got an interview call from Apple and wanted to know if it's worth the switch from retail fashion into retail computers.

Apple employees are not allowed to post on forums so don't expect an answer.

I'm sure plenty of them are reading this though. ;)

Retail fashion- is that like a Gap girl? :p

Maybe some ex-employees can chime in! :) I'm getting some basic knowledge while searching the forums archives tho.

I actually work at Express right now... it's comparable to Gap.

IIRC, ex-employees aren't allowed to post on forums like this until one year after their final day.

Though I could be wrong. I'm extremely sick and woozy, who knows what crazy stuff I might say...

Former Apple Store employee (Mac Specialist) here. Posted the entire 3 years I worked there, just didn't advertise it. Nobody really cares since we never actually get ANY info on upcoming products.

As far as retail goes, it's the best retail job out there. Pay is A LITTLE above standard for something like Best Buy or Circuit City, BUT it is still retail...and retail blows frankly. But you do get to be around the coolest gadgets around and people think you're cool when you say you work for Apple, not to mention the discounts are CRAZY on top of other perks like free Shuffles and iPhones and the shirts....oh the shirts...

I have a friend who works in the SF Apple store. Part time its $11.50/Hour.

Sure beats what I used to make at the Old Navy across the street, still, pay isn't as great as I thought it would be [Only about $2 above SF minimum wage].

Just go to Apple store and employees are wearing them!!

11.50 isn't bad. I get paid $10 working part time at express. Hopefully the interview goes well. >.<

Yea, I lurk a lot of forums so I know how to use the search feature. Even though I searched a lot of threads, no one has really talked about if it fun working at apple or not. Most people talk about pay and benefits.
